COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri (21-14, 12-6) battled back to score the final five runs of the game in a close 6-5 setback to Tennessee Tech (16-28, 8-13) Saturday.
SEMO, which won the series, trailed, 6-0, before mounting its comeback bid.
Tori Bradley hit her first career home run as part of a two-run fourth inning to get the Redhawks on the board. Bradley pinch-hit for
Hailey Burnett and blasted her home run over the center field wall.
Addisyn Martinie followed with a triple and scored on an error to make it a 6-2 contest.
Sydney Dennis led off the fifth inning with a single to left and later scored on a caught stealing at second base to cut TTU's lead in half.
SEMO then made a big push during its final at-bat in the seventh.
Brittany Affolter doubled and pinch-hitter
Kinley Wilkins singled. Following a pitching change, Dennis reached on a bunt single to load the bases.
Madison Winkler got on with a fielder's choice and Affolter scored. With one out,
Gracie Luna flied out and Wilkins scored to get the Redhawks within a run. Emily York, however, got
Sydney Melton to fly out ending the late threat.
Payton Wagner (2-9) picked up the win in the circle. Wagner allowed three runs on four hits, walked three and struck out one in five innings.
York earned the save after pitching one scoreless inning.
Tegan Livesay (4-3) took the loss. Livesay scattered four hits and gave up five runs in 1.2 innings.
Willow Van Haren pitched three shutout innings with two strikeouts out of the Redhawks bullpen.
Dennis went 2-for-3 to lead SEMO which had seven hits.
Makayli Harris finished at 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a pair of home runs and four RBI to pace TTU.
SEMO returns to action when it hosts Southern Indiana Apr. 26-27.
