SEMO Baseball Picked First in 2025 OVC Preseason Poll

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Southeast Missour Baseball was picked to win the Ohio Valley Conference ahead of the 2025 campaign, the league announced on Thursday morning.
The Redhawks, who are coming off the program's sixth OVC Tournament Championship in 2024, received 13 first-place votes and 157 points from the league's head coaches and communicators.
Receiving five first-place votes was Little Rock who garnered 144 points and a second-place predicted finish. Tennessee Tech (118) rounded out the top three in the preseason poll, followed by Morehead State who received one first-place vote (107), and Eastern Illinois (92) to round out the top five.
SIUE received a first-place vote (89) landing sixth with UT Martin (69), Southern Indiana (57), Lindenwood (45), and Western Illinois (22) following behind.
Sophomore second baseman Brooks Kettering landed on the 2025 OVC 'Players to Watch' list as the Southeast Missouri representative. Each school received one player on the list ahead of the season.
Kettering started 62-of-63 games in 2024 as a freshman, he hit .308 on the season with nine home runs, 12 doubles, 40 RBIs, and recorded 76 hits in his first season of collegiate baseball. He landed on the 2nd Team All-OVC list, All-OVC Freshman team, the All-OVC Tournament team, and was selected to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament team.
The Redhawks are eyeing their first OVC Regular Season Championship since 2021 where they won both the league and the tournament title. SEMO played in its sixth NCAA Regional in Fayetteville, Arkansas following their automatic berth to the postseason.
SEMO Baseball will play a 55-game schedule in 2025, including 30 games in Cape Girardeau. They will open on the road at American Athletic Conference-member, Memphis, on Friday, February 14, in Memphis, Tennessee.
