Redhawks Travel to Tennessee for Two Matches Saturday
Southeast Missouri tennis is on the road this weekend traveling to Pulaski, Tennessee on Saturday, February 22nd to face UT Southern at 10:30 a.m., CT. After the Redhawks face the Firehawks they will travel about one hour north to Nashville, Tenn. to face the Belmont Bruins at 5:00 p.m. at the Ensworth Indoor Tennis Center.

About UT Southern
UT Southern comes into this matchup coming off of a 0-7 loss against Middle Georgia State University. Last season the Firehawks went 5-12 overall and had a conference record of 5-12. UT Southern's 2025 roster consists of three seniors, four juniors, two sophomores, and three freshmen. Bill Riddle enters his seventh year as the head coach for the Firehawks.

About Belmont
The former OVC school, the Belmont Bruins, are currently on a four game losing skid falling to Samford, UAB, Austin Peay, and most recently Middle Tennessee. Belmont's lone win of the season came against Tennessee State where they won 5-2. Last season, Belmont boasted a 5-3 conference record with an overall record of 13-10. The Bruins season ended in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley conference tournament to #1 Murray State. So far this season the Bruins are a combined 6-24 in singles action and 3-10 in doubles play. Ellie Burger is in her first season as the Bruins Head Coach of the women's Program.

Series History
The Redhawks have faced the Firehawks once before with SEMO winning. Southeast Missouri faced UT Southern in Pulaski, Tenn. back in 2023 where the Redhawks swept the Firehawks 7-0.

The Bruins currently hold a slight edge over the Redhawks leading the series 9-7. The most recent matchup between SEMO and Belmont happened last year on January 26th that saw Belmont come away with a 5-2 victory. Overall, SEMOhas held a tight grip on the series here recently winning five out of the past six matchups against Belmont. 

Redhawk Leaders
Sophomore's Maja Bajorek and Juliette Demunck lead the Redhawks so far in this young season. Bajorek and Demunckboth have the most singles wins with six so far this season. Bajorek has two wins at No. 2, three wins at No. 3, and one win at No. 4. Demunck has captured the bulk of her wins at No. 3 (4-0) and she has two wins at No. 4. 

Weekend Five Recap
The Redhawks went 0-2 last weekend falling to Arkansas State 4-1 last Friday in State University, AR. and falling to Missouri 4-0 last Saturday in Columbia, Mo. 

Against Arkansas State, the Red Wolves won all three doubles matches clinching the doubles point. In singles action Yontha Tadoum was the only Redhawk to clinch a point. After starting set 1 down 0-3, Tadoum fought back and tied the set at 4-4. After some long rallies and back and forth action Tadoum won set 1, 7-5. Set two went even further and Tadoum won 7-6 after some great back and forth battles. 

Against the Tigers, Missouri captured the doubles point clinching the match in two matches. In singles action the Tigers won three singles matches to clinch the match.Yontha Tadoum and Juliette Demunck were on their way to victory on court one and three before they went unfinished. Tadoum at No. 1 and Demunck at No. 2 were both winning 5-2 in the third set before their match got called.    

Looking Ahead
The Redhawks are back in Paducah, Kentucky next week facing Missouri State on February 28th and North Alabama on March 2nd at the  Rowton Paul Indoor Tennis center.
