Redhawks Host 'Classroom on Court Day' Thursday Versus Evansville
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (0-1) will hold their home opener on Thursday, November 6, against Evansville (0-0) for the annual 'Classroom on the Court' Day. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m., CT. from the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.Â

Classroom on the Court Day
The Redhawks have partnered with local elementary and middle schools around the Southeast Missouri area to hold the annual 'Classroom on the Court' Day on Thursday morning. Over 1,000 elementary and middle school kids will be in attendance to enjoy a fun field trip day to the Show Me Center to support the Redhawks against Evansville.Â

Thursday's matchup marks the 15
th meeting between the Redhawks and the Aces on the basketball court. Most recently, SEMO traveled to Evansville in 2024 falling by a final score of 70-55. The Redhawks do hold a 9-5 all-time series record and are a perfect 6-0 in Cape Girardeau against Evansville.Â

At Illinois
The Redhawks began the season just one day ago at Big 10 member Illinois in a 91-67 loss at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois. The Redhawks shot 35.1-percent from the field on 20-57 shooting led by
Lexi McCully who finished with 16 points. SEMO's defense forced 16 turnovers from the Illini and turned those into 11 points on the offensive end. The Redhawks got 29 points from their bench, headlined by graduate student
Charmen Taylor who was second on the team with 11 points.Â

Ainaya Williams is one of the best in the Ohio Valley Conference at blocking opponent's shots. Williams recorded a blocked shot last night against Illinois and is now on an eight-game streak with a recorded block, dating back to the 2024-25 season. She has 54 career total blocks in just her second season in Cape Girardeau.Â

McCully Shines
The Redhawks returning leading scorer from 2024-25,
Lexi McCully picked up where she left off from a season ago Tuesday night at Illinois. McCully, who finished the regular season with four-straight games with 10+ points, scored a team-high 16 points against the Illini. She now has five-straight games with double figures, shooting 35.7-percent from the floor (5-14) and an impressive 4-5 at the charity stripe.Â

SEMO recorded 31 total rebounds in the season opener on Tuesday beginning in the frontcourt. The frontcourt duo of
Aa'Mya Stacker and
Ainaya Williams hauled in seven and four rebounds, respectively, to combine for 11-of-SEMO's-31 rebounds.Â

Noelani Dunn led the Redhawks in steals last night with three in her collegiate debut. Dunn recorded 3-of-SEMO's-7 steals as the Redhawks registered more steals than Illinois (6). Dunn recorded her steals in just 14:39 of action in game number one.Â
