SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Incoming freshman
Hailey Buckman earned one of the Springfield Daily Citizen male and female Athlete of the Year, as voted by local media members.
Buckman a recent graduate of Logan-Rogersville high school, earned the award which is given to the top high school senior athletes in Greene and Christian counties. She was presented the award Thursday evening at a private banquet at event sponsor Twin Oaks Country Club.
In her high school career, she left as the programs leading scorer after scoring 2,156 points and helped the Wildcats to a 70-19 record. She was a two-time all-state selection and her senior year she averaged 21 points, 8.1 rebounds and two assists while also shooting 40% from the field. She also played volleyball for Logan-Rogersville where she was also a two-time all-state middle blocker and helped the Wildcats reach the state final after her junior season.
She recently graduated summa cum laude at Logan-Rogersville, where she was also a member of the National Honor Society.
Buckman earned a $1,000 scholarship for the honor.
