
Redhawks Trek to Columbia for the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri track and field heads back to Columbia, Mo. for the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational Jan. 31 (Fri) through Feb. 1 (Sat).
The meet will be held at the University of Missouri inside the Hearnes Center starting at 10:00 a.m., CT on Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The Heptathlon will open the meet on Friday and the men's distance medley relay will finish out the events on day one at 5:50 p.m. The women's shot put is slated for a 11:00 a.m. start on Saturday and the men's 4x400m relay will finish out the meet at 4:00 p.m.
Records Broken
In the very first meet of the season Anna Thomason took home the gold medal in the pentathlon with 3643 total points breaking the previous record of 3580 set last year by Kaitlyn McGinnitey.
Nick Cimmarusti crossed the line at 8:33.92 to break the SEMO Student Recreation center 3000m record at the Redhawks Invite. The record was previously held by Nick Happe of Arizona State with a time of 8:38:00.

At the end of the indoor track season the top 16 performers from each event make it to the NCAA Indoor Championship. The sport is broken up into nine regions, SEMO is in the Midwest Region which includes all the Division One schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.
Southeast has 16 marks ranked in the top 50 of the country, 28 marks ranked in the top 25 of the Midwest Region, 16 marks ranked first in the OVC and 53 marks in the top five in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The distance medley relay team of Cole Reinders, Louis Primeau, Justin Splitt, and Byron Sowerby ranks 38th nationally and first in the Midwest region with a time of 10:15.86, achieving that time at the Crossroads of America Invitational.
The team of Evan Fuller, Tyler Anderson, Micah Grawer, and Trey Mygatt ranks 45th nationally in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:18.41, which was also achieved at the Crossroads of America Invitational.
Kenyon Johnson ranks seventh in the region in the long jump with a distance of 24' 4.25" and 35th nationally, fifth in the region, and first in OVC in triple jump with a mark of 50' 8.25", achieving these marks at the Redhawks Invite and Indiana Early Bird Meet.
Paden Lewis threw for distances of 60' 0.25" and 74' 6.25" in the shot put and weight throw to rank 42nd and ninth in the NCAA, tenth and third in the Midwest region and first in the OVC in both events. The senior achieved the shot put at the Crossroads of America Invitational and the weight throw at the Show-Me Showdown.

The multis athlete posted this mark at the Indiana Early Bird Meet, Dec. 13th. Thomason also has a time of 8.52 in the 60m hurdles, ranking 15th in the region and first in the OVC.
In the men's and women's 55m Dominic Revels ranks seventh (6.32), Cole Bruenderman 25th (6.46), Breanna Miles 12th (7.18), and Sydney Burdine ranks 50th (7.39) in the NCAA. They all achieved this at the Redhawks Invite, Jan. 11th.
In the men's and women's 55m hurdles Marcus Gordon ranks 22nd (7.82), Luis Schadlich ranks 29th (7.97), Thomason ranks fourth (8.13), Brianna Dixon ranks seventh (8.22), Megan Aubuchon ranks 22nd (8.57), and Clara Billing ranks 24th (8.59). They all achieved this Jan. 11th at the Redhawks Invite.
Cole Reinders ranks 18th regionally, and first in the OVC in the 800m with a time of 1:51.39.
Revels ranks 15th in the Midwest region in the 60m with a time of 6.80. The Freshman also ranks 21st (22.00) in the region in the 200m.
Miles ranks 23rd in the region and first in the conference in the 60m, crossing the line at 7.60. The senior also posted a time of 24.20 in the 200-meter for eighth in the region and first in the OVC.
Erika Mellor has a time of 2:13.60 in the 800-meter to be ranked 22nd in the Midwest and first in the OVC.
In the men's 5000m regional rankings Nick Cimmarusti ranks 13th (14:29.72) and first in the OVC, Noah Little ranks 17th (14:38.84), Garrett Dumke ranks 18th (14:42.95), Myles Thornburg ranks 23rd (15:00.95), and Cade McCadams ranks 24th (15:08.94).
In the women's 5000m regional rankings Lexie Dockstader ranks 14th (17:55.57) and first in the OVC, Kayla Vogelsang ranks 15th (18:09.55), and Cordelia Hoover ranks 20th (18:20.41).
Louis Primeau, Trey Mygatt, Micah Grawer, and Luis Schadlich combined for a time of 3:26.08 in the 4x400, ranking them 24th in the region.
Aarion Jackson is ranked 14th in the Midwest region in long jump, jumping a distance of 23' 10.25".
Molly Grohmann cleared a height of 5' 7" to be ranked first in the conference in the high jump.
Bruenderman is ranked 21 regionally with a mark of 23' 4.75" in the long jump.
Tanner Koontz vaulted over a height of 16' 6.5" to be ranked 19th in the region and first in the OVC and Sullivan Gleason ranks 20th regionally (16' 4.75").
Billing cleared a height of 13' 1.5" to rank 18th in the Midwest region and first in the OVC in the pole vault.
The distance medley relay team of Lauren Eftink, Mattea Pearsall, Erika Mellor, and Layla Fliege ranks second in the region and first in the conference with a time of 12:38.38.
Athletes of the Week
Cimmarusti tabbed OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this year. The senior placed second in the 5000m race with a time of 14:29.72, ranking ninth in SEMO record books and first in the OVC.
Thomason claimed OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week after recording a time of 8.52 in the 60m hurdles to tie her personal best. The junior placed ahead of 24 other athletes and her time ranks second in the SEMO records by just .02 seconds, first in the OVC, and 106 in the NCAA.
Lewis tabbed OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season. The thrower placed first and third in the weight throw and shot put with distances of 71' 4" and 60'0.25". The Weight throw ranks third in SEMO records and second in OVC behind himself, the shot put ranks fourth in SEMO records, first in the OVC and 42nd in the NCAA.
Andreese Ortiz picked up OVC Female Freshman of the week for the first time in her young Redhawk career. Ortiz placed 12th in the shot put ahead of 14 other athletes with a personal best mark of 44' 6.25. That mark ranks third in the conference and is the highest freshman mark of the season so far.
Last Time Out
The Redhawks competed at the Crossroads of America Invite posting 16 top ten performances, and 12 new personal records.
Paden Lewis achieved a distance of 71' 4" to take gold in the weight throw. The senior finished ahead of 27 other athletes to stand alone atop the podium. Lewis also chalked up a bronze medal in the shot put with a mark 60' 0.25"
Anna Thomason crosses the line at 8.62 to take ninth in the women's 60m hurdles, just .02 seconds from the record.
Tanner Koontz vaulted over a height of 16' 6.5" for eighth and a new PR in the pole vault.
The women's squad of Lauren Eftink, Mattea Pearsall, Erika Mellor, and Layla Fliege ran the distance medley in 12:38.38 for sixth.
The men's distance medley team of Cole Reinders, Louis Primeau, Justin Splitt, and Byron Sowerby finished with a time of 10:15.86 for fourth.
Aarion Jackson jumped for a mark of 23' 10.25" to take fifth in the men's long jump and a new PR, while Kenyon Johnson jumped for a distance of 23' 2" (10th). Johnson also jumped to a fourth place finish (49' 10") in the triple jump.
Erika Mellor clocks in at 2:13.60 in the women's 800-meter for eighth.

The Redhawks will take on the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite next Friday and Saturday at the University of Nebraska.
