Thomason Breaks Two Records as Redhawks End Day One of the Dr. Rick McGuire Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Thomason breaks two SEMO records as Redhawks end day one of the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational. The Redhawks finished the meet with 14 top ten performances and five new personal records.

Day two of the meet will start at 10:40 a.m., CT with the men's heptathlon 60m hurdles. The final event of the meet is slated for 4:15 p.m. with the men's 4x400m.

Record Breaking Redhawk
Anna Thomason set two new SEMO records at the meet. Thomason broke her own pentathlon points record of 3643, improving to 3734 points. The junior also set the SEMO 60m hurdles record of 8.50 to grab the gold, breaking the former record of 8.61 set by Brianna Dixon at the 2024 OVC Championship.

Standout Performers
Brooklyn Bender came in fifth in the 5000m with a time of 18:26.13.

Paden Lewis earned a fourth place finish in the men's weight throw with a distance of 70' 6.25"

Mattea Pearsall, Laila Hardin, Lauren Eftink, and Layla Fliege ran the women's distance medley, finishing with a time of 12:24.08 and earning a silver medal.

Thomason finished third overall in the pentathlon, bringing home a bronze medal with 3734 points.

Top Ten Finishes
In women's weight throw senior Makenzie Williams posted a distance of 60' 0.25" (7th).

Clara Billing vaulted over a height of 12' 10.25" to place seventh in the pole vault.

Haley Smith recorded a new personal record in the 5000m with an 18:50.08, finishing in sixth. 

The men's 5000m saw Clayton Eftink run a 15:37.71 for seventh, Sam Rinehart finished in eighth with a time of 15:43.84, and Jacob Blassingame ended with a time of 16:24.47 coming in ninth.

The men's long jump saw Aarion Jackson jump a distance of 23' 7.25" (6th) and Cole Bruenderman finish with a distance of 22' 9.25" (10th).

In pole vault Sullivan Gleason cleared a height of 16' 3.5", finishing in eighth place.

Notable Marks
Baylee Beard finished 13th during women's weight throw with a distance of 57' 4.25" and Bailie Hux finished 15th with a distance of 56' 8.5".

Collin Beers and Tanner Koontz placed 11th (15' 9.75") and 12th (15' 9.75") respectively in the pole vault.

In the weight throw Clay Alewelt finished 15th with a distance of 58' 5.25".

Heptathlon Day One
The Redhawks freshman Luis Schadlich and senior Jake Casey competed in the men's heptathlon.

In the 60m, Schadlich finished fifth with a time of 7.18 and Casey finished eighth with a time of 7.21.

In the long jump Schadlich jumped to a fourth place finish with a distance of 23' 0.75".

Schadlich set a new personal record in shot put throwing for a distance of 38' 11", a distance that earned him eighth place.

The last two events of the heptathlon, 60m hurdles and pole vault, will take place on Saturday.

Pentathlon Results
Anna Thomason, Kendall Holweg, and Tayler Gudde competed in the women's pentathlon. 

Overall Holweg finished 14th with 2859 points while Gudde finished 15th with 2531 points.

Thomason finished fifth in the high jump with a height of 5' 4.25".

Gudde set a new personal best in shot put, throwing a 37' 10.75" mark and finishing first. Thomason threw for a mark of 33' 1" for seventh while Holweg threw a distance of 30' 3.75" for 

Thomason topped the podium in the long jump with a distance of 18' 0.5". Holweg also made the top ten, jumping 17' 4" to come in seventh

Thomason finished sixth in the 800m with a time of 2:28.59.
