Â
Series History
This will be the fifth time the Redhawks take on the Tigers. Missouri currently leads the series 3-0-1.
Â
SEMO has played Missouri the previous two years with last year's contest ending in a 4-0 victory for the Tigers.Â
Â
In 2022, The Redhawks fought hard in a 1-0 loss in Columbia.
Â
The first time these two teams faced off was back in 2007 when the game ended with the series' only tie (1-1) in double overtime. Six years later Southeast Missouri would face the Tigers again in a match that saw Missouri come away with a 4-0 victory (2013). Â
Â
Scouting Missouri
The Tigers are currently on a two-game losing skid, falling 2-1 to the Miami and 2-0 to No. 23 Saint Louis. Missouri's only win of the year came from their season opener against Missouri State in a  2-0 victory in Columbia.
Â
Against Miami, the Tigers had 12 shots with four of them on goal. Landis Canada, the freshman midfielder, was the lone Tiger to score a goal. Along with the goal scored, Canada registered four shots and two SOG's.
Â
Bella Hollenbach, Missouri's starting goalie recorded three saves. Hollenbach has been the only goalie that has seen minutes for the Tigers this season. She has faced 45 shots, saved 17 of them, and allowed seven on the year.Â
Â
Milena Fischer, Keegan Good, and Canada are the three goal scorers for the Tigers this season. Fischer has two goals while Good and Canada each have one.Â
Â
Junior Forward Kylee Simmons leads the team in shots and SOG's. Simmons has 12 shots on the year with five of them being on goal and she has one assist.
Â
As a team, Missouri has totaled 59 shots (11.8 per game) while holding their opponents to 44 shots (8.8 per game). Out of the 59 shots, 23 have been shots on goal which gives them a 0.390 SOG%.
Â
The 2024 season marks Golan's 16th season as a head coach and fourth at Missouri. Golan has a 18-30-8 career record at Missouri and a 143-112-42 overall record.Â
Â
No Minutes Off
Defenders
Alayna Jakul and
Kristin Anderson have never seen the sideline during gameplay this season.
Â
Both athletes have played the full 90 minutes in each game this season and they look to continue that trend.
First Road Test
The trek to Columbia will be the first road test for the Redhawks this season. SEMO opened up the season with three-straight (the first game of season was postponed, and not made up) home matches against Missouri Valley Conference opponents. SEMO will now be on the road for the next three matches before returning to Cape Girardeau for OVC play.Â
Â
Looking Ahead
SEMO Soccer will be return to action in the Sunshine State for a pair of matches with Florida International & Florida Atlantic of Conference USA to wrap up the non-conference portion of the 2024 season. The first match against FIU is slated for Thursday, Sept. 12 in Miami, Fla. The trip will commence with a Sunday, Sept. 15, match against Florida Atlantic.Â
