COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri women's soccer (0-7-1, 0-1-1 OVC) fell on the road Thursday afternoon to Tennessee Tech (1-7-4, 1-1-0 OVC) by a final score of 3-0 at Tech Soccer Field. The match was originally slated to begin at 7 p.m., CT. but due to a potential threat of inclement weather, the match was moved up to the 12 p.m. start in Cookeville.
The Redhawks held a 7-5 shot-on-goal advantage over Tech, but the Golden Eagles recorded 17 shots to just 11 from SEMO on the afternoon. Forward
Cayla Koerner led the charge with four shots, two on target, in 88 minutes of game play.
Justin Nelson,
Melissa Kubin,
Elizabeth Rater and
Alayna Jakul all registered a shot on target in the match. Rater was the only other Redhawk with multiple shots on frame (2).
Tech opened the scoring within the first 10-minutes of the contest with a goal from Meredith Nye off a corner kick. The Golden Eagles had six first half corner kicks as this one bounced around and found Nye's foot for the early goal advantage.
The Redhawks used the full 45-minutes as they earned a chance at the first penalty kick of the season in the 45
th minute. Rater was fouled inside the box after firing a shot before she stepped up to take the penalty.
Rater's shot was saved by TTU goalkeeper Maggie Conrad. Conrad finished the first half with two saves. At the half, TTU led 1-0.
Two goals inside of 10 minutes of the second half by TTU with the first coming from Katie Toney (50') and the second from Neve Renwick (55') put the game away for the home side. Renwick finished with seven total shots and a goal to lead the Tech offense.
SEMO would have their second penalty kick opportunity late in the second half as Rater earned the penalty after a hard foul inside the TTU box. Sophomore
Justi Nelson stepped to the spot for this one, but her shot was blocked away by Conrad to keep the score at 3-0 as the game ended.
Conrad finished without allowing a goal and made seven saves on seven shots-on-goal.

SEMO Soccer will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 29, when they host Western Illinois to continue OVC play. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m., CT. at Houck Field.
