Baseball Loses, 4-2, Saturday at Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Southeast Missouri Baseball (14-17, 5-3 OVC) fell in game two of the series at Little Rock (17-14, 6-2 OVC) by a final score of 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.

RHP Sam Heyman (3-1) tossed 5.1 innings and allowed just two earned runs on four hits and struck out three over 21 batters faced.

Offensively, SEMO registered just two runs on five hits, as five different Redhawks recorded a hit including a home run from first baseman Bryce Cannon. Cannon was responsible for one-of-two RBIs in the contest as he finished 1-for-4 at the plate with the blast.

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning, left fielder Ty Stauss blasted a solo home run to left field to tie the game a one a piece.

Little Rock would respond with an RBI sacrifice fly from Luke Pectol to make it 2-1 Trojans in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Two RBI doubles in the bottom of the eighth inning made it 4-1 Trojans with just an inning remaining. Cannon's blast in the top of the ninth inning got the Redhawks to within two but LR's Jacob Weatherley picked up his fifth save of the season to take game two.

The series finale is slated for Sunday, April 7, as the Redhawks and Trojans will play at 1 p.m. from Gary Hogan Field.
