Box Score CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (8-6, 3-0) moved into sole possession of first in the Ohio Valley Conference when it beat SIU Edwardsville (10-3, 1-1), 6-1, Saturday at the John C. Bierk Tennis Complex.
SEMO picked up its fifth-straight win overall and third in a row in OVC play.
The Redhawks came away with the doubles point when Daniela Hlacikova and Juliette Talieu defeated Jill Lambrechts and Jordan Schifano, 6-4. Maja Bajorek and Lera Valeeva also won over Fabiola Perez and Cydney Roders, 6-4.
SEMO won five of the six singles matches to close out its dominating performance.
At No. 2, Calinescu was victorious over Guibal Britt 6-4, 3-6, 7-6. Talieu cruised to a set one win 6-3, then fell in set two, before coming back to win, 7-5.Â
Hlacikova won in a retired match in the first set. The backend of SEMO's lineup each won in straight sets.
SEMO earned its 20th win in its last 22 conference matches.
The Redhawks are back in action when they head to Tennessee State on Mar. 29.
