Redhawks Host Bradley and Arkansas State in Home-Opening Weekend
Southeast Missouri (3-6) plays host to Bradley (4-6) and Arkansas State (4-4) during its home-opening weekend. SEMO faces Bradley at 2 p.m. Saturday and Arkansas State at 11 a.m., CT Sunday. Both matches will be played at the John C. Bierk Redhawks Tennis Complex.
Series History
Southeast Missouri is 11-5 all-time against Bradley. With Mary Beth Gunn at the helm, the Redhawks have never lost to Bradley. Arkansas State is 17-5 in its series against SEMO. The Redhawks beat the Red Wolves in three of the last four meetings.
Hlacikova and Talieu Pick Up OVC Weekly Awards
Daniela Hlacikova was named Co-Ohio Valley Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Hlacikova also won OVC Women's Doubles Team of the Week with Juliette Talieu. It is the tandem's second OVC Doubles Team of the Week award this year.
About Bradley
Bradley comes to Cape Girardeau after a 4-3 win over Kansas City. The Braves are on a three-match winning streak with victories over two OVC schools (Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois). Bradley's No. 1 player Maria Bezmenova and No. 2 threat Anna Belogliadova are both 4-3 this spring.
About Arkansas State
The Red Wolves are .500 so far this season. ASU's four wins this season came against Tennessee State (7-0), Oral Roberts (4-1), Lindenwood (7-0) and Arkansas Tech (7-0). The Red Wolves have two players with six wins. Yasmine Humbert has a 6-1 record and Ariadna Fernandez is undefeated this season at 6-0. As a team, ASU is 28-9 in singles play.

The John C. Bierk Redhawk Tennis Complex is the home for the SEMO tennis team and since 2019 the Redhawks have only lost three matches at home. In the past five years, the Redhawks have an astonishing 22-3 record on their home courts. Since the Mary Beth Gunn era started in 2016 the Redhawks have a 27-12 home record.
Redhawks Picked to Win OVC in 2024
The Redhawks are the Ohio Valley Conference preseason favorite entering the 2024 campaign. Southeast Missouri received 35 points and five first-place votes in the overall voting. SIU Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois, Tennessee State, first-year OVC member Western Illinois, Lindenwood and Southern Indiana completed the poll. Daniela Hlacikova (No. 1), Vivian Lai (No. 4), Trinity Calinescu (No. 7) and Juliette Talieu (No. 9) are ranked among the league's top 10 players ahead of the spring.
