Gymhawks Head to Nebraska for Nebraska Quad-Meet
Southeast Missouri Gymnastics will be back in action on Sunday, March 3, when they take part in the Nebraska Quad-Meet in Lincoln, Neb. Competition is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at Bob Devaney Sports Center.Â

Who's There?
The Redhawks will be competing against Big 10 Conference member Nebraska, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) member, North Carolina, and fellow Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Illinois State.Â

Last season, the Redhawks competed against North Carolina at Missouri on March 10. The Tar Heels defeated SEMO by a final score of 196.275-194.675 at the Mizzou Quad-Meet.Â
SEMO has faced off with fellow MIC-member Illinois State twice so far in 2024. The Redhawks lost 195.600-194.475 in Normal, Ill. on January 31. Most recently, ISU was in Cape Girardeau for the SEMO Tri-Meet and downed SEMO 195.975-193.500 at Houck Field House (2/16).Â

Sunday's competition will mark the first time the Gymhawks have competed against Nebraska in
Ashley Lawson's tenure at SEMO. Nebraska holds a 5-1 record against SEMO.Â

All-Around
Senior
Lydia Webb and sophomore
Taylor Ingle have both been regulars for SEMO in the all-around competition in 2024. Webb has turned in a 39.000 or higher in three meets this season, including a new SEMO record 39.575 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic (1/19). Most recently, she received a 38.600 at the SEMO Tri-Meet two weeks ago.Â

Ingle has competed in the all-around in five meets this season, most recently turning in a 39.175 at the SEMO Tri-Meet. The sophomore from Coppell, Texas has a season-high 39.500 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic. Ingle has three 39.000 or higher this season as well, including a 39.175 last time out.Â

Last Time Out
Southeast Missouri Gymnastics placed second in their final home meet of the season on Friday night. The Redhawks ended with a total score of 193.500, Illinois State took first place with a score of 195.975, and Fisk took third place with a 188.225.Â

On senior night,
Lydia Webb turned in an All-Around score of 38.600 for third place. Senior
Anna Speller competed on the beam in the sixth spot and competed as an exhibition on the bars.

Taylor Ingle also competed in the all-around placing second with a total score of 39.175. She recorded the Redhawks highest score of the night.

Scouting the Opponent
Nebraska
The Cornhuskers enter the quad meet with a 6-7 (4-5 Big Ten) record placing fourth with a score of 195.725 at the Big Fives meet most recently.

During the meet Csenge Bácskay tied her career-high 9.850 on bars. The sophomore also notched a score of 39.325 for third.
Â
Whitney Jencks notched a 9.850 on floor to tie her personal best, and Halle Rourke tied her career high on floor with a 9.900.

With an average of 39.042 in the all-around and a high of 39.475, Junior Emma Spence ranks the highest for NU at 57th in the country.Â
Â
Senior Kinsey Davis has won Big Ten Specialist of the Week for her bars routine. Davis is currently tied for 30th nationally and fourth in the Big Ten with a bars average of 9.888.

NU is ranked 30th in the nation and sixth in the Big Ten with an average team score of 196.125 and a season best score of 196.875.

Illinois State
The Redbirds face SEMO for the third time this season, coming off a second-place finish after scoring a 194.350.

Angelica Labat took first in the all-around with a score of 39.175, picking up her fifth all-around victory in the last six meets for the Redbirds.Â

An ISU gymnast won three of the four events. Jaye Mack picked up an event win on floor (9.950), Mya Robinson finished first on the vault with a 9.900, Madison Kipp won the beam event with a score of 9.850, and Freshman Reese Grolla was the top finisher on bars, finishing in second place with a 9.825.Â

This past week Labat was named the MIC Gymnast of the Week for the fourth time. Ally Lau earned her second MIC Newcomer of the Week, and Regan Hestermann was selected as this week's Coaches' Choice award.

Illinois State ranks 38th in the nation with an average score of 195.461 and a season high of 195.975.

Labat ranks the highest for the Redbirds at 35th with high scores of 9.9500 on the vault, 9.8500 on bars, 9.900 on beam, and 9.900 on the floor.

North Carolina
The Tarheels enter the meet with a 3-9 (1-5 ACC) record, losing 195.500 to 197.350 in their most recent meet against Clemson. The score was the highest road score of the season for UNC.

Gwen Fink posted a score of 39.275 which garnered a runner-up finish and matched her career high.

Lali Dekanoidze placed first in the bars event with a mark of 9.925 for a new season for a new season high. It was her 15th routine of 9.9+ on bars.

UNC ranks 43rd on the vault and bars and 44th and 50th on the beam and floor for an overall ranking of 47th in the nation with a high score of 196.650 and an average score of 195.050.Â

The Tar Heels have high scores of 49.1500 on the vault, 49.300 on the uneven bars, 49.025 on the balance beam, and 49.225 on the floor.
