Redhawks Host UT Martin on Senior Day Saturday
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (8-18, 5-10 OVC) will wrap-up the home slate of the schedule on Saturday, February 24, when they host UT Martin (12-14, 9-6 OVC) on senior day. Tip-off is slated for 1:30 p.m., CT. at the Show-Me Center in Cape Girardeau. 
 
Senior Day
Saturday will mark the final game at the Show-Me Center for four Redhawk seniors. Guards Chandler Davis and Megan Barton, and forwards Julia Sion and Michaela Mayfield will be honored prior to the game for their contributions to the Redhawks program. 
 
Series History
The Redhawks and Skyhawks will meet for the second time in 2023-24 on Saturday. Earlier this season, UTM downed SEMO 52-44 in Martin, Tenn. on January 25. Overall, the Skyhawks maintain a 45-32 overall series record against SEMO. The last SEMO win in the series came last season on a buzzer-beater by guard Kori Tomlin. The Redhawks won 56-54 at the Show-Me Center. 
 
Rebounds
For the second game in a row, SEMO outrebounded their opponent on Thursday night. The Redhawks hauled in 28 rebounds to Little Rock's 21, led by junior guard Kiyley Flowers. Flowers finished the contest with a team-high six rebounds. 
 
League Table
With just three games remaining in the season, the Redhawks (5-10 OVC) are currently tied for eighth place in the Ohio Valley Conference with Tennessee State (5-10 OVC). SEMO owns the head-to-head with the Tigers as we approach the OVC Tournament. The Skyhawks (9-6 OVC) are currently tied for third place with Tennessee Tech & Little Rock. 
 
Steals
Junior guard Kiyley Flowers currently ranks second in the league in steals with 65. Flowers is averaging 2.6 steals-per-game and trails only Makayla Wallace of Lindenwood who has 67 (2.7 SPG). She recorded a pair of steals last night against Little Rock. 
 
Last Time Out
The Redhawks fell on Thursday night by a final score of 61-48 to Little Rock at the Show-Me Center. 
 
Freshman Indiya Bowen finished with a team-high 15 points to lead SEMO's offense. Bowen finished 4-for-10 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. Alecia Doyle was the other Redhawk in double-digits, finishing with 10 (3-for-9).
 
As a team, SEMO shot 35-percent from the floor (16-45) and was just 21-percent from three-point range (3-14). The Redhawks won the battle of the boards by a 28-21 margin, led by Kiyley Flowers who finished with six. 
 
Little Rock was led by guard Jordan Holman who finished with 20 points and seven rebounds. As a team, LR shot 52-percent from the floor (26-50). The Trojans found success inside the paint, scoring 32-of-their-61 points in the ball game.
 
The Trojans won the turnover battle with a 22-15 advantage, turning SEMO's 22 turnovers into 27 points. 
 
Scouting The Opponent
UT Martin
The Syhawks enter the Show Me Center in fourth with a 9-6 record beating Lindenwood 65 - 56 in their latest contest.
 
During the game UT Martin shot 43.6% (24-55) from the floor, 30.8% (4-13) from deep, and 92.9% (13-14) from the line. Only two players came off the bench for a total of nine minutes.
 
Sophomore forward Anaya Brown scored a team high 24 points going 10-18 (55.6%) and 4-4 from the line. Brown ranks third and second in the OVC in rebounds and steals. Against the Lions she hauled in seven rebounds and posted two steals.
 
Kenley McCarn, the third leading scorer (16.3 PPG) and leader in minutes (37.5 MPG) in the conference notched 12 points and four and three rebounds and steals.
 
Freshman Norah Clark scored 11 points to round out the double-digit scorers.
 
Lexi Rubel pulled in 15 rebounds and stole the rock five times bringing her totals to 181 and 44 both sixth best in the OVC. Rubel four assists per game ranking fourth in the conference, against LU she dished out five assists and put up six points.
 
In the Conference the Skyhawks rank eighth in offense (64.3 PPG) and third in defense allowing 63.8 points per game.
 
Looking Ahead
The Redhawks will head back on the road for the final two games of the season beginning next Thursday, Feb. 29, when they take on Morehead State. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Morehead, Ky.
