
Tennis Heads to Murfreesboro for the Tennessee Fall Intercollegiate Tournament

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri tennis will continue their fall slate and compete in the Tennessee Fall Intercollegiate Tournament this Friday and Saturday Oct. 4-5.
The tournament will be played at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The teams that will be competing will be UT Southern, Christian Brothers College, Middle Tennessee, Blue Mountain Christian, and Belmont.
Each athlete will get to play three singles matches and three doubles matches throughout the two days of the tournament.
Friday's matches are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m., CT, and Saturday's matches are scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m., CT.
Last Time Out
The Redhawks last competed at the OVC Fall tournament in Evansville, Indiana. SEMO had three champions out of nine flights.
Juliette Demunck captured the Redhawks only singles title. Demunck won the singles championship against Payton Tomichek from SIUE. Demunck lost the first set 3-6, battled back in the second and won 6-4. Then closed things out in the super tie break and won 10-5.
Demunck went 3-0 in flight five over the two tournament days.
Lera Valeeva and Kristina Kozakova and Mia Mayerová and Maja Bajorek both won doubles championships.
Lera Valeeva and Kristina Kozakova rolled past Southern Indiana's Antonia Ferrarini and Madison Windham 6-0 to claim the doubles flight one championship.
In the flight two championships Mayerová and Bajorek cruised to an easy 6-0 victory over Paige Grice and Mana Fawcettin from WIU to claim the doubles flight to championship.
The Redhawks went 7-5 in single matches and 6-0 in doubles matches during the tournament.
Looking Ahead
After the Murfreesboro Tournament, SEMO will be traveling back to Tennessee for the ITA Regional on Oct. 10 - 13.
