
Cross Country Wraps Up Regular Season Friday at Angel Mounds Invitational

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri Cross Country heads to Evansville, Ind. to compete at the second annual Angel Mounds Invitational on Friday, October 18th.
The men's 8K is set to begin at 9 a.m. (CDT) followed by the women's 6K at 9:50 a.m. (CDT). The 8k features one 2k loop and two 3k loops while the 6k features just two 3k loops.
The race will feature around 20 Universities and Colleges from the Midwest. The course is flat and fast with a less than 11 ft change in elevation throughout the race. The average slope incline is .7% and the average slope decline is .6%. The race course area is entirely enclosed, primarily through an open area, and has a wide course track.
OVC Weekly Awards
Nova Ojutkangas tabs her third OVC weekly award in as many races for her performance at the Gans Creek invite.
The Freshman led the women for the third time this season. She crossed the line at 21:04.1 (50th) ahead of 283 other athletes and 35 other division one schools while achieving a new personal best.
Last Time Out
The cross country team competed at the sixth annual Gans Creek Invitational posting ten new personal records. With the men's team placing 24th and the women's team placing 31st.
Noah Little led the Redhawk men for the second time this year, ending with a time 24:34.7 (93rd) ahead of 232 other athletes.
Nick Cimmarusti (2nd) and Garrett Dumke (3rd) placed 116th and 136th with times of 24:43.1 and 24:50.9. With times of 25:07.6 and 25:43.8 Myles Thornburg (167) and Freshman Evan Fuller (235, New PR) rounded out the scorers for the men.
Ojutkangas led the women for the third time in as many races. Lauren Eftink and Erika Mellor both posted new PR times of 22:35.5 (200th) and 22:59.4 (238th), for second and third in the women's scorers.
Brooklyn Bender crossed the line at 23:07.7 (251st) and Kayla Vogelsang finished with a time of 23:10.9 (259th) while both achieved new personal records to round out the women scorers.

The top five finishers in each race count towards the overall team score.
On the women's side Nova Ojutkangas has led the Redhawks in all three races. Other scorers include freshman Lauren Eftink (3), Erika Mellor (3), Madelyn Gray (2), Brooklyn Bender (2), Kayla Vogelsang and freshman Cordelia Hoover.
On the men's side Noah Little has led the men twice and scored in every race. Nick Cimmarusti has led the men in one race and scored in every race as well. Other scorers include Garrett Dumke (3), Myles Thornburg (3), Justin Splitt, Cade McCadams, and Freshman Evan Fuller.
