Gymnastics Heads to Illinois State for Midweek Meet
Southeast Missouri Gymnastics will be back in action on Wednesday, January 31, when they head to Normal, Ill. to take on Midwest Independent Conference member Illinois State in midweek action. Competition is slated to begin at 6 p.m., CT. at Horton Field House.Â

Series History
The Redhawks and Redbirds will square-off for the 109
th time in gymnastics with the Redhawks maintaining a 64-44 all-time series lead. Last season, Illinois State won the MIC Championship meet in Cape Girardeau. ISU swept the season series last year against SEMO with two regular season victories.

Last Friday at the SEMO Tri-Meet, sophomore
Taylor Ingle and junior
Madison Greene each earned a 9.900 for the Gymhawks. Both gymnasts recorded their 9.900 on the floor rotation propelling the Redhawks to their best rotation score of the night (49.125). For both gymnasts, the 9.900 is the second-highest score on the floor in 2024.Â

Underclassmen
So far this season, SEMO has gotten great production from sophomores

Kailyn Hamilton,
Sydney Crouch, and
Ailey Kuehn.Â

Taylor Ingle has competed in the all-around in back-to-back meets, posting scores of 39.500 (1/19) and 39.225 (1/26).Â
Kailyn Hamilton, from Springfield, Mo., has competed on the Bars in all four meets of 2024, and three-of-four meets on the floor. She recorded a new career-high on Bars last week, posting a 9.775. Her highest floor score is a 9.675, posting it twice against Centenary and at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic.Â

Sydney Crouch has been a floor specialist for the Redhawks all season. Crouch set her season-high 9.675 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic.Â

Ailey Kuehn has been the Vault and Beam specialist so far in 2024. Kuehn set two season-highs last week. She registered a 9.825 on the vault and a 9.775 on the beam.Â

Last Time Out
Southeast Missouri Gymnastics scored a 195.625 at the SEMO Tri-Meet on Friday night defeating Talladega College (190.175) and Winona State (189.025) in front of a sellout crowd inside Houck Field House.

Taylor Ingle, one of two all-arounders on the night, finished first overall in the all-around category with a 39.225. Her highest score of the night came on the fourth and final rotation when Ingle turned in a 9.900 from the fourth spot.Â

Lydia Webb also competed in the all-around, registering a 38.350.Â

Vault
SEMO started off the night on the vault where they scored a 49.000 in the first rotation.Â

Sophomore
Taylor Ingle started rotation one for the Redhawks earning a 9.750.

Ailey Kuehn and
Janelle Lopez both recorded season-highs with a 9.825 which were both season-highs for Kuehn and Lopez.Â

In her senior season
Lydia Webb scored a 9.800 in spot three. Right behind her was
Madison Greene who also scored a 9.800 on the vault.Â

Bars
In the Gymhawks second rotation of the night they ended up with a total score of 48.700.Â

Fresh off a 10.000 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic,
Lindsay Ockler continued her bars dominance scoring a nice 9.850 in spot five.

SEMO had three athletes score in the 9.700 range,
Ava Johnston,
Taylor Ingle, and
Janelle Lopez. Johnston and Ingle scored a 9.725 in spot 1 and 2 while
Kailyn Hamilton set a season high with a 9.775 in spot 3.

Janelle Lopez ended the Redhawks night on the bars scoring a 9.625. The Redhawks ended the rotation in first place, with a running score of 97.700.Â

Beam
The Redhawks scored a 48.800 on the beam in their third rotation of the night. Â

Lydia Webb scored the highest on the beam for the Redhawks earning a score of 9.875.
Jordan Napolitano and
Taylor Ingle both put up good performances for SEMO. In spot four, Napolitano scored a 9.825 and in spot five, Ingle scored a 9.850.Â

Madison Greene put up a score of 9.475 from the second spot in the rotation.
Ailey Kuehn followed behind and added to the Redhawks score with a 9.725.

The Redhawks highest score of the night belonged to
Taylor Ingle and
Madison Greene. Ingle going fourth and Greene going sixth both scored 9.900 on the floor.Â

Lindsay Ockler started the floor routines off for the Redhawks scoring a 9.700.
Jordan Napolitano followed Ockler with an impressive score of 9.800.
Sydney Crouch turned in a 9.575 from th third spot and the Redhawks were off and running en route to their best rotation score of the night.Â

Scouting the Opponent
Illinois State
The conference opponent enters the meet with a 5-2 record (1-0, MIC) falling most recently to Iowa State by a final score of 194.825-196.650.

The Redbirds posted its best event score of the night of 49.050, on the floor routine. Illinois State posted a 48.950 on the vault, 48.425 on the bars, and 48.400 on the beam.

Redshirt senior Angelica Labat won the all-around competition with a season-high score of 39.200, thanks to top five finishes on all four events.

Alana Laster also turned in a good performance of the vault and floor. Laster recorded a 9.800 on the vault and tied a team high on the floor with a score of 9.875.

Labat has the season high scores on the vault and bars with scores of 9.875 and 9.8500. Sophomore, Nirel Bart-Williams has the best score on the beam this season (9.900) and Jaye Mack has the best score on the floor with a 9.925.Â

Illinois State is currently ranked 33 in the nation. The Redbirds team high so far this season is 195.950 but their average this year is 195.606.Â
