Track and Field Continues Indoor Season at the Illini Challenge Friday and Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri track and field team head to Urbana-Champaign, Ill., for the Illini Challenge hosted by the university of Illinois. The meet will be held at the UI Armory Jan. 26 through Jan. 27.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m on Friday with the women's pentathlon and 11:15 a.m with the men's heptathlon.
On Saturday the field events start at 1:00 p.m with the women's shot put and the running events are slated for noon with 60m hurdles.
Records Broken
In her very first indoor meet Brianna Dixion broke SEMO's indoor high jump record at the Fred Wilt Invitational, Dec. 9. Dixion is a freshman from Rantoul, Ill., she placed first in the women's high jump. Dixion cleared the height of 5' 7.75" (1.72m) breaking the previous record of 5' 7.25" set by Angela James in 1991.
Feuerborn, a graduate student from St. Michael, Minn., had a monster throw of 73' 4.75" to break the Southeast indoor record previously set by himself in 2023 at the Redhawks invite.
At the Redhawks Invite Taylor Fox broke the SEMO Recreation Center record in the women's mile with a time of 5:04.27 beating the previous facility record of 5:04.30 set in 2008. The senior also broke the SEMO 1000m at the Bellarmine Open after she crossed the finish line at 2:48.16 five seconds faster than the previous record set by Megan Parks in 2016 (2:53.33).
In her lone event at the Redhawks Invite Hannah Eastman competed in, she broke the Rec. Center facility record in the women's 3000-meter. The graduate student crossed the line at 9:59.56 beating the previous record of 10:06.87 set by former teammate Katie Wegmann in 2023.
Weekly Award Winners
Taylor Fox a distance runner from Mt. Zion, Ill. was named OVC Co-Female Track Athlete of the Week after she broke the SEMO 1000m record when she crossed the finish line at 2:48.16. Her time puts her at 34th in the NCAA.
This is Fox's second straight week being named Track Athlete of the Week. Last week she broke the SEMO Recreation Center record in the women's mile with a time of 5:04.27.
Where We Rank
Parker Feuerborn, a graduate student from St. Michael, Minn., ranks fifth in the nation and first in the OVC in the weight throw with a throw of 73' 4.75" (22.37m). Feuerborn achieved this mark at the Redhawks Invite on Jan. 13th. He is also ranked fourth in the shot put in the shot put (52' 0.5").
Taylor Fox a senior from Mt. Zion, Ill. crossed the line at 2:48.16 to be ranked 34th in the NCAA in the 1000m, achieving this mark at the Bellarmine Open (Jan. 19). Fox is also ranked first in the OVC in the women's mile (5:00.35).
Isaac Readnour ranks 33rd in the NCAA and first in the OVC in the Heptathlon for his 4840 points earned during the John Coughlan invite Dec. 1. Readnour also cleared a pole vault height of 15' 3" for fourth best in the OVC.
SEMO's duo of multis athletes Kaitlyn McGinnitey ranks 34th nationally (1st in the OVC) (3450 points) in the pentathlon.
Breanna Miles is ranked first (7.44) and second (24.99) in the 60-meter and 200 in the OVC.
Leanza Dwaah is ranked fifth in the OVC in the 60-meters (7.67) and fifth in the 200 (25.24).
Sydney Burdine ranks first in the OVC in the 400m dash running it in 56.68.
Erika Mellor is ranked second (2:16.62) in the OVC in the 800.
In the mile Justin Splitt has a time of 4:17.94 for fifth best in the Ohio Valley.
In the women's mile Madelyn Gray is ranked fifth in the OVC with a time of 5:10.49.
Hannah Eastman has the best time in the 3000-meter in the OVC (9:53.30)
Marcus Gordon ranks fifth in the men's 60m hurdles in the OVC, posting a time of 8:30.
In the 60m hurdles Anna Thomason is ranked second in the Ohio Valley Conference crossing the line at 8.71. Thomason also has the second best pentathlon score with 3415 points
Southeast Missouri's 4 x 400 team of Brenden Parham, Mark Crawford, Garrett, and Justin Splitt are ranked third in the OVC (3:18.77).
The 4 x 400m team of Miles, Burdine, Dwaah, and Laila Hardin have the second best time in the OVC (3:52.17)
Luke Hatfield-Jackson jumped for a distance of 24' 1" to be ranked second in the OVC. Jackson also ranks first in the high jump (6'8.75").

In the women's high jump Molly Grohman has cleared the second highest mark in the OVC (5' 7").
In the men's pole vault Colin Beers and Tanner Knootz are ranked third (15' 7.75") and fifth (15' 1.75") in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Clara Billing is ranked first in the OVC after clearing a height of 12' 7.5" in the pole vault.
Serena Williams, jumped for a distance of 18' 9.75" in the long jump to be ranked second in the OVC.
Marshall Swadley is ranked second in the OVC in the weight throw (65'6") and has the best throw in the OVC in the shot put (56' 4").
In the Men's Shot Put Clay Alewelt and Quinton Maxwell have throws of 55' 5" (2nd) and 52' 0" (5th) to be ranked in the OVC.
Alivia Busch and Bailee Hux rank second (45' 3") and third (43' 11.25") in the Ohio Valley Conference in the shot put.
In the women's weight throw Piper Klinger is ranked second (59' 1.25"), Busch is ranked fifth (55' 10.25"), Hux is ranked fourth (56' 4.75") and Makenzie Williams is ranked third (57' 7.75").
