CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The reigning Ohio Valley Conference Champion Southeast Missouri women's tennis team has four tournaments scheduled during the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule
SEMO will open its fall campaign at the Austin Peay Invitational (Sept. 22-24). The Redhawks host their own Redhawk Invitational (Sept. 29-30) and compete at both the ITA Central Regional (Oct. 12-16) and Central Arkansas Invitational (Oct. 27-28) to complete their fall slate.
Daniela Hlacikova begins her senior season at SEMO. The reigning OVC Player of the Year, Hlacikova earned First-Team All-OVC accolades for the second-straight year after posting an overall 14-3 record and undefeated 5-0 OVC mark in OVC play last spring.
Vivian Lai brings more experience to the roster as a fifth-year player. Lai was a Second-Team All-OVC selection who topped the Redhawks with a 13-1 spring singles record. She ended the season on a 10-match winning streak and like Hlacikova, also went unbeaten in league action.
Trinity Calinescu is in her sophomore season and is coming off a nice 2022 campaign. Calinescu did not lose a match in Ohio Valley Conference play. She finished the spring with a 13-5 record, including an 11-1 mark at the No. 5 position.Â
Lera Valeeva returns for her fifth year. Valeeva was 10-1 in fall competition during the 2022-23 season.
Competing for the first time at SEMO this fall are newcomers Juliette Talieu, Ewa Czapulak and Maja Bajorek.Â
Talieu is a graduate transfer from North Alabama, where she played at the top of the Lions' singles lineup. She compiled an 11-12 singles record and 8-10 record in doubles play. Talieu spent her freshman and sophomore seasons at Sun Belt Conference member South Alabama before that.
Czapulak is a freshman from Legnica, Poland. She ranked as high as 13 in Polish U18 singles and held a #23 in both Polish senior singles and senior doubles.Â
A freshman, Bajorek is also from Poland (Krakow). She rated 17th in Polish 18 singles and 19th in Polish senior doubles. Bajorek and her team placed in the top four three times at the National Teams Championship.
