CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri Track & Field will split their talents this weekend at two different locations as they prepare for the upcoming 2023 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships.

Some of the athletes will be headed to Bloomington, Indiana to compete at the Billy Hayes Invite and others will be in Fayetteville, Arkansas to compete at the Arkansas Twilight. Both events will be held on Friday, May 5th.

Dylan Clark, Marshall Swadley, Clay Alewelt, and Makenzie Williams will be attending the Arkansas Twilight. The field events are scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. with the discus throw and end with the shot put at 7:30 p.m.

Taylor Fox, Katie Wegmann, Layla Fliege, Hannah Eastman, Terrico Garrett, Markeith Crawford, and Justin Splitt will be attending the Billy Hayes Invite. The running events will start with the 110-meter hurdle prelims at 4:00 p.m. and are scheduled to end at 8:25 p.m. with the 4x400.

Last Time out
The Redhawks last competed in Memphis, Tennessee on April 28 - 29 at the Memphis Invite. Over the weekend the Redhawks ended with six first place finishes, 14 new PR's, and multiple top five performances.

Makenzie Williams and Bailie Hux both recorded new PR's in the women's hammer throw. Williams finished in fourth place with a mark of 55.45-meters, and Hux placed seventh with a throw of 47.16m.

Sullivan Gleason cleared the height of 15' 10" (4.83m) in the men's pole vault, getting a new personal best and placing third.

In the women's long jump Tayler Gudde and Ciara Potter both achieved new personal bests. Gudde jumped for a distance 17' 5.50" (5.32m) for seventh and Potter placed eighth getting to a distance of 17'5.25" (5.31m).

Noah Little crossed the line for a new PR and the fifth place finish (3:55.37) in the men's 1500-meter.

Hannah Eastman and Kayla Vogelsang both achieved new personal bests in the 5000-meter. Eastman finished with a time of 17:09.14 (2nd) and Vogelsang finished in fifth (18:55.23).

Marysa Flieg picked up the gold medal in the women's javelin throwing for a distance of 143' 6" (43.74m).

Luke Hatfield-Jackson took the top spot on the podium with a jump of 23' 11.75" (7.31m) in the men's long jump.

Nick Cimmarusti ran for a time of 14:31.96 which earned him a new PR and a first place finish in the men's 5000-meter.

Breanna Miles got the gold medal in the women's 400-meter and recorded a new personal best crossing the finish line in 55. 75.

Dylan Clark took the top spot on the podium in the men's shot put with a mark of 57' 0" (17.37m).

In the men's triple jump, Luke Hatfield-Jackson finished in first place with a jump of 14.57-meters.

Momoh Brema crossed the finish line in 50.11 for a new PR and a seventh place finish in the men's 400-meter. Brema also got a new PR in the 200-meter placing fifth with a dash of 22.36.

Megan Deimeke finished with two PR's on the day. She placed fourth and threw for 44' 6" (13.65m) in the women's shot put and placed third in the discus with a mark of 46.10-meters.

Ciara Potter got a new PR in the Triple jump. Potter had a jump of 11.54-meters and placed second.

Records Broken
The women's 4x800-meter relay team of Taylor fox, Erika Mellor, Madelyn Gray, and Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State record with a time of 9:01.34 on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. The previous record was 9:09.09 held by Laura Byrne, Debbie Kilpatrick, Pam Palmer, and Jennella Torrence in 1985.

Luke Hatfield-Jackson breaks his own Southeast Missouri State record in the high jump with a jump of 2.19-meters on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. He previously broke the record back in 2021 with a jump of 2.178-meters.

Breanna Miles, the junior from Memphis, Tenn. broke the school record in the 200-meter when she crossed the line at 23.71 on March 22 at the Mississippi State Invite. Miles broke the record previously held by Jerika Lewis (23.91) set in 2013. She also broke the indoor 200-meter record twice during the indoor season, making this her third record this year.

Graduate student Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State 1500-meter school record again. Wegmann recently broke the record where she crossed the line at 4:23.36. This time she finished almost two seconds faster on April 21 at the Georgia Tech Invite with a time of 4:21.62.

Clara Billing, a freshman from Rudbecksskolan, Sweden broke the Southeast Missouri State school record in the women's pole vault on April 21 at the Georgia Tech Invite. Billing broke the record and cleared a height of 13' 1.75" (4.01m). The record was 12' 11.5", previously held by Jill Schnurbusch in 2013.

Where We Rank
Luke Hatfield-Jackson is ranked ninth in the NCAA and first in the conference for his 7' 2.25" (2.19-m) high jump. He achieved this mark on Mar. 23 at the 2023 Mississippi State Bulldog Relays. He is also ranked fourth in the OVC in the long jump (7.45m, 24' 5.5") and triple jump (14.57m, 47' 9.75").

Parker Feuerborn is ranked 27th in the NCAA and first in the OVC in the hammer throw. He threw for a mark of 220' 3" (67.14m) on April 7th at the 2023 Joe Walker Invite.

Chris Johnson is ranked fifth in the OVC for the men's long jump (7.29m, 23' 11").

In the women's 100-meters Breanna Miles is ranked second in the conference (11.69), first in the women's 200-meter (23.71), and fourth in the 400 (55.75).

In the women's 100-meters Leanza Dwaah is ranked fourth (11.80).

Laila Hardin is ranked first in the 400-meter hurdles in the conference (1:00.13).

In the men's 800-meter Terrico Garrett is ranked second in the conference (1:49.83).

In the 800-meter Madelyn Gray is ranked fifth (2:12.59) in the conference, fourth in the 1500 (4:30.28) and third in the steeplechase (11:03.59).

Taylor Fox has the third best time in the conference for the 800-meter (2:12.26) and third in the 1500 (4:29.84).

In the women's 1500-meter Katie Wegmann is ranked first in the OVC (4:21.62) and first in the 800 (2:09.63).

Hannah Eastman is ranked fifth (17:09.14) in the 5000-meter in the conference.

Brock Wood has the fourth best time for the 400-meter hurdles (54.03) in the conference

Serena Williams, Daja Gordon, Leanza Dwaah, and Breanna Miles are ranked third in the conference for the 4x100 (46.04).

The team Brock Wood, Brenden Parham, Terrico Garrett, and Momoh Brema are ranked fifth in the OVC for the 4x100 (42.03).

In the men's 4x400 team of Brenden Parham, Mark Crawford, Momoh Brema, and Terrico Garrett are ranked second in the OVC (3:16.78).

Breanna Miles, Erika Mellor, Leanza Dwaah, and Laila Hardin are ranked second as a team in the 4x400 in the OVC (3:47.31).

In the women's high jump Sophie Dubis is ranked second in the conference 5' 5" (1.65m).

In the Men's pole vault Colin Beers is ranked second in the OVC (15' 5.75", 4.72m), Tanner Koontz is ranked third (4.68m, 15' 4.25"), Sullivan Gleason is first (4.83m, 15' 10") and Isaac Readnour is ranked fifth (14' 1.25", 4.30m).

In the women's pole vault Clara Billing is ranked first (4.01m, 13' 1.75"),Skylar Prescott is ranked third (3.56m, 11' 8"), and Nicole Silverlake is ranked fifth (3.50m, 11' 575").

Serena Williams is ranked third in the conference in the women's long jump (5.76m, 18' 10.75"), and second in the triple jump (11.97m, 39' 3.25").

Dylan Clark is ranked third in the conference for the hammer throw (60.15m, 197' 4"), first in the discus (54.22m, 177' 11"), and second in the shot put (17.39m, 57' 0.75").

Clay Alewelt is ranked fourth in the OVC for his 193' 8" (59.02m) mark in the hammer throw and second in the discus (53.69m, 176' 2").

Marshall Swadley has the second best hammer throw in the OVC (63.57m, 208' 7"). He is also first in shot put in the OVC (17.49m 57' 4.75").

Makenzie Williams has the best throw in the OVC in the hammer throw and the discus (58.02m, 190' 4"), (48.78m, 160' 0").

Megan Deimeke is ranked second in the conference (55.49m, 182' 1") in the hammer throw, third in the shot put (13.56m, 44' 6"), and fourth in the discus throw (46.10m, 151' 3").

Josiah Kilgore, Justin Breault, and Josh Kile are ranked first (210' 2", 64.07m), second (204' 10", 62.43m), and fourth (163' 9", 49.91m) in the men's javelin.

Jaden Kight is ranked first in the OVC for Javelin (150' 4", 45.82m) and Marysa Flieg is ranked second (43.74m, 150' 4").

In the women's heptathlon Anna Thomason is ranked second with 4160 total points in the conference, Tayler Gudde is ranked third with 4128 total points, and Kendall Holweg is ranked fifth with 3933 total points.

Issac Redanour is ranked first in the OVC and Jon Bissell is ranked second in the OVC in the Decathlon. Readnour gained 5979 total points and Bissell gained 5861 total points.

Team Rankings
The men's track and field team is ranked 16th in the Midwest region with 144.08 total points and first in the OVC with 1,276.79 total points.

The men's high jump team is ranked 37th in the nation, the pole vault team 47th, the long jump team 34th in the nation, the triple jump team 16th, the shot put team 23rd, the discus team is ranked 32nd, the hammer throw team fifth in the NCAA, and the javelin team is ranked 33rd.

The Women's Track and Field team is ranked 21st in the Midwest region with 77.25 total points and first in the OVC with 1,393.60 total points.

The women's pole vault team is ranked 43rd in the nation and the javelin team is ranked 31st in the NCAA.
