Track & FIeld Heads to Joe Walker Invite at Ole Miss

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo - Southeast Missouri Track & Field is back on the road again this weekend to compete at Mississippi's Joe Walker Invite in Oxford, Miss. 
 
The event will be held at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex on Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8. 
 
Last Time Out
The Redhawks competed in Joey Haines Invitational last week for their only home meet of the season where the men and women's team both won and had a total of 13 first place finishes. 
 
Katie Wegmann crossed the line at 4:28.57 to claim the gold in the women's 1500-meter.
 
Justin Split stood atop the podium in the men's 1500, finishing with a time of 4:03.52.
 
In the men's 800-meter Terrico Garrett finished with the gold medal and crossed the line at 1:52.89.
 
Clara Billing took home the gold in the women's 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.68. Billing also took first place in the women's pole vault (3.80m).
 
Laila Hardin finished in first, with a time of 58.35 in the women's 400-meter. Hardin also picked up the gold medal in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.27.
 
The women's 800-meter saw Madelyn Gray finish on top of the podium with a dash of 2:12.59.
 
Aarion Jackson placed first in the men's triple jump with a jump of 13.26m.
 
Hannah Eastman finished in first with a time of 17:13.87 in the women's 5000-meter. 
 
In the men's 5000-meter, Nick Cimmarusti placed first with a run of 14:43.11.
 
Jaden Kight finished with a throw of 41.26m for a first-place finish in the women's javelin.
 
Chris Johnson, Mark Crawford, Brenden Parham, and Terrico Garrett placed first as a team in the men's 4x400-meter relay. They finished in 3:19.15. 
 
Taylor Fox finished in 4:40.70 in the women's 1500-meter for second.
 
Chris Johnson finished with the two silver medals on the day. In the men's long jump (7.29m) and in the 200-meter crossing the line at 22.11.
 
The men's shot put saw Dylan Clark place third with a throw of 16.26m.
 
Where We Rank
Luke Hatfield-Jackson is ranked sixth in the NCAA and first in the conference for his 7' 2.25" (2.19-m) high jump. He achieved this mark on Mar. 23 at the 2023 Mississippi State Bulldog Relays.
 
Parker Feuerborn is ranked 31st in the NCAA and first in the OVC in the hammer throw. He threw for a mark of 212' 9" (64.85m) on March 31st at the 2023 Joey Haines Invite.
 
Marshall Swadley has the 44th best hammer throw in the Nation and second best in the OVC. He achieved this mark at the Joey Haines Invite, March 31st. (63.57m  208' 7"). He is also fourth in shot put in the OVC (16.14m, 52' 11.5").
 
Chris Johnson is ranked fifth in the OVC for the men's 100-meters (10.67) and fourth in the long jump (7.29m, 23' 11").
 
In the women's 100-meters Breanna Miles is ranked first in the conference (11.71), first in the women's 200-meter (23.71), and fifth in the 400-meter (56.63).
 
In the women's 100-meters Leanza Dwaah is ranked second (11.80) and fifth in the 200-meter (24.68) in the OVC.
 
 Daja Gordon is ranked third in the conference (11.91) in the 100-meter.
 
Laila Hardin is ranked second in the OVC for the women's 400-meters (56.49) and first in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.27).
 
In the men's 800-meter Terrico Garrett is ranked second in the conference (1:52.90) and Mark Crawford is ranked fifth (1:54.48).
 
In the 800-meter Madelyn Gray is ranked first (2:12.59) in the conference. 
 
In the women's 1500-meter Katie Wegmann is ranked first in the OVC (4:27.15), Taylor Fox is ranked second (4:32.81), and Madelyn Gray is ranked fourth (4:39.46).
 
Nick Cimmarusti is ranked fifth in the Ohio Valley conference in the 5000-meter (14:43.11).
 
Hannah Eastman is ranked fourth (17:13.87) and Katie Wegmann is ranked fifth (17:18.76) in the Conference for the women's 5000-meter.
 
The 4x100-meter relay team of Luke Collins, Brenden Parham, Brock Wood, and Chris Johnson are ranked fifth in the OVC (42.22).
 
Serena Williams, Daja Gordon, Leanza Dwaah, and Breanna Miles are ranked third in the conference for the 4x100 (46.61).
 
The men's 4x400 relay team of Brenden Parham, Mark Crawford, Brock Wood, and Terrico Garrett are ranked third in the OVC (3:18.37). 
 
Breana Miles, Erika Mellor, Madelyn Gray, and Taylor Fox are ranked second as a team in the 4x400 in the OVC (3:56.71).
 
In the women's high jump Sophie Dubis is ranked first in the conference 5' 3" (1.60m).
 
In the Men's pole vault Tanner Koontz is ranked first in the OVC (15' 1", 4.60m), Colin Beers is ranked second (14' 9", 4.50m), and Sullivan Gleason and Isaac Readnour are tied for third (14' 1.25", 4.30m).
 
In the women's pole vault Clara Billing is ranked first (3.86m, 12' 8"), Nicole Silverlake is ranked fourth (3.50m, 11' 575"), and Skylar Prescott is ranked fifth (10' 11.75", 3.35m).
 
Serena Williams is ranked fifth in the high jump (5' 2.5", 1.59m), ranked third in the conference in the women's long jump (5.76m, 18' 10.75"), and third in the triple jump (38' 1.5", 11.62m).
 
Dylan Clark is ranked third in the conference for the hammer throw (60.15m, 197' 4") third in the discus (50.72m, 166' 5"), and third in the shot put (     16.26m, 53' 4.25").
 
Clay Alewelt is ranked fourth in the OVC for his 188' 4" (57.4m) mark in the hammer throw and first in the discus (53.69m, 176' 2").
 
Makenzie Williams has the best throw in the OVC in the hammer throw and the discus (58.02m, 190' 4"), (48.64m, 159' 7").
 
Megan Deimeke is ranked second in the conference (54.02m, 177' 3") in the hammer throw,  fifth in the discus (42.24m, 138' 7"), and fifth in the shot put (13.27m, 43' 6.5").
 
Josiah Kilgore, Justin Breault,and Josh Kile are ranked first (200' 2"), second (199' 6"), and fourth (162' 2") in the men's javelin.
 
Jaden Knight is ranked first in the OVC for Javelin (150' 4", 45.82m) and Marysa Flieg is ranked third (41.72m, 136' 10").
 
Records Broken
The women's 4x800 meter relay team of Taylor fox, Erika Mellor, Madelyn Gray, and Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State record with a time of 9:01.34 on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. The previous record was 9:09.09 held by Laura Byrne, Debbie Kilpatrick, Pam Palmer, and Jennella Torrence in 1985. 
 
Luke Hatfield Jackson breaks his own Southeast Missouri State record in the high jump with a jump of 2.19-meters on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. He previously broke the record back in 2021 with a jump of 2.178-meters. 
 
Breanna Miles, the junior from Memphis, Tenn. broke the school record in the 200-meter when she crossed the line at 23.71 on March 22 at the Mississippi State Invite. Miles broke the record previously held by Jerika Lewis (23.91) set in 2013. She also broke the indoor 200-meter record twice during the indoor season, making this her third record this year.
