Track & Field Continues Outdoor Season at Memphis Invite Friday and Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State Track & Field is headed to Memphis, Tennessee this weekend to compete at the Memphis Invite Friday, April 28 through Saturday, April 29. The event will be held at the Billy J. Murphy Track Complex at the University of Memphis.
Friday's field events are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. with long jump and the running events will start at 6:00 p.m. with the 1500-meter and end with the men's 5000-meter at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday's events will start at 10:00 a.m. with the high jump and the field events will end with the women's triple jump. The running events are scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. with the 100-meter hurdles and end at 3:30 p.m. with the men's 4x400 relay.
Last Time Out
The Redhawks last competed at the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta, Ga. on April 21 - 22 where they broke two records, set multiple personal best, and finished with 12 top-three performances.
Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State 1500-meter school record again. Wegmann finished in sixth place and finished with a time of 4:21.62.
Clara Billing, a freshman from Rudbecksskolan, Sweden broke the Southeast Missouri State school record in the women's pole vault. Billing broke the record and finished with the gold medal clearing a height of 13' 1.75" (4.01m).
Luke Hatfield-Jackson placed first in the men's long jump, getting to the distance of 24' 5.5" (7.45m).
In the men's javelin throw Josiah Kilgore finished with the gold, throwing for 210' 2" (64.07m).
Madelyn Gray finished on top of the podium and finished with a new personal best in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase. Gray finished with a time of 11:03.59.
In the men's hammer throw Parker Feuerborn, Marshall Swadley, and Dylan Clark placed second, third, and fourth. Feuerborn threw for a distance of 214' 2" (65.29m), Swadley notched a distance of 206' 5" (62.93m), and Clark threw for 197' 7" (60.23m).
Justin Breault placed third picking up the bronze medal in the men's javelin throwing for a distance of 201' 3" (61.34m).
Breanna Miles finished with the silver medal crossing the finish line at 24.11 in the women's 200-meter.
Makenzie Williams finished in third place with a throw of 160' 0' (48.78m) in the women's discus.
Laila Hardin picked up the bronze medal in the women's 400-meter hurdles finishing in 1:00.13.
Katie Wegmann also competed in the women's 800-meter grabbin the silver medal. Wegmann ran a time of 2:09.63.
The men's 800-meter saw Terrico Garrett finish with the bronze medal crossing the finish line at 1:49.83.
Records Broken
The women's 4x800 meter relay team of Taylor fox, Erika Mellor, Madelyn Gray, and Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State record with a time of 9:01.34 on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. The previous record was 9:09.09 held by Laura Byrne, Debbie Kilpatrick, Pam Palmer, and Jennella Torrence in 1985.
Luke Hatfield-Jackson breaks his own Southeast Missouri State record in the high jump with a jump of 2.19-meters on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. He previously broke the record back in 2021 with a jump of 2.178-meters.
Breanna Miles, the junior from Memphis, Tenn. broke the school record in the 200-meter when she crossed the line at 23.71 on March 22 at the Mississippi State Invite. Miles broke the record previously held by Jerika Lewis (23.91) set in 2013. She also broke the indoor 200-meter record twice during the indoor season, making this her third record this year.
Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State 1500-meter school record again. Wegmann recently broke the record where she crossed the line at 4:23.36. This time she finished almost two seconds faster on April 21 at the Georgia Tech Invite with a time of 4:21.62.
