Track & Field Treks to Edwardsville For SIUE Invite

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri track and field will head to Edwardsville, Ill. on Saturday, April 15 to compete at the SIUE Invite.
The event is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. with the hammer throw and the field events will end with the javelin starting at 3 p.m.
The running events will start with the 3000-meter Steeplechase at 12:00 p.m. and are scheduled to end with the 4x400 relay at 5:05 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Redhawks last competed at the Joe Walker Invite in Oxford, Mississippi on Friday, April 7 - Saturday, April 8 where the Redhawks finished with multiple PR's, 20 top-five finishes, and broke one record.
Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State school record in the women's 1500-meter with a time of 4:23.36.
The men's javelin throw saw Justin Breault place third with a throw of 204' 10" (62.43m).
Parker Feuerborn placed fourth in the men's hammer throw getting to the distance of 220' 03" (67.14m).
Josiah Kilgore threw for 193' 08" (59.03m) and finished in fifth place in the men's javelin throw.
In the men's 800-meter Terrico Garrett placed fourth with a time of 1:50.89.
Freshman Clara Billing placed first and recorded a new PR in the women's pole vault. Billing cleared a height of 12' 10.25" (3.92m).
Kendall Holweg recorded a new PR in the women's heptathlon long jump 16' 07" (5.05m).
Madelyn Gray finished with a new personal best in the women's 1500-meter. Gray crossed the line at 4:30.28 placing fourth. Gray also placed 10th in the 800-meter with a time of 2:12.87.
In the women's 100-meter hurdles Megan Aubuchon finished in 14.81 which was fast enough for a new PR.
Connor Moore finished in 50.40 with a new PR in the men's 400-meter (18th).
Leanza Dwaah finished with a new personal best with a time of 12.24(25th) in the 100-meter dash.
The men's 800-meter run saw Noah Little record a new PR crossing the finish line at 1:59.37.
Laila Hardin picked up the silver medal and earned a new personal best in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.40.
Records Broken
The women's 4x800 meter relay team of Taylor fox, Erika Mellor, Madelyn Gray, and Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State record with a time of 9:01.34 on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. The previous record was 9:09.09 held by Laura Byrne, Debbie Kilpatrick, Pam Palmer, and Jennella Torrence in 1985.
Luke Hatfield-Jackson breaks his own Southeast Missouri State record in the high jump with a jump of 2.19-meters on March 21 at the Mississippi State Invite. He previously broke the record back in 2021 with a jump of 2.178-meters.
Breanna Miles, the junior from Memphis, Tenn. broke the school record in the 200-meter when she crossed the line at 23.71 on March 22 at the Mississippi State Invite. Miles broke the record previously held by Jerika Lewis (23.91) set in 2013. She also broke the indoor 200-meter record twice during the indoor season, making this her third record this year.
Graduate student Katie Wegmann broke the Southeast Missouri State school record in the women's 1500-meter on April 7 at the Joe Walker Invite. The record was previously held by Carli Knott in 2021 with a time of 4:23.89. Wegmann crossed the finish line a few tenths faster at 4:23.36.
Where We Rank
Luke Hatfield-Jackson is ranked sixth in the NCAA and first in the conference for his 7' 2.25" (2.19-m) high jump. He achieved this mark on Mar. 23 at the 2023 Mississippi State Bulldog Relays.
Parker Feuerborn is ranked 20th in the NCAA and first in the OVC in the hammer throw. He threw for a mark of 220' 3" (67.14m) on April 7th at the 2023 Joe Walker Invite.
Marshall Swadley has the 50th best hammer throw in the Nation and second best in the OVC. He achieved this mark at the Joey Haines Invite, March 31st. (63.57m 208' 7"). He is also fourth in shot put in the OVC (16.14m, 52' 11.5").
