Redhawks Set to Battle Rival Southern Illinois Tuesday
Southeast Missouri (18-16, 7-2 OVC) will face longtime rival Southern Illinois (19-13, 8-1 MVC) on Tuesday, April 11, in Carbondale, Ill. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m., CT. at Itchy Jones Stadium.

Series History
Southern Illinois currently holds a 59-30-1 all-time series lead against the Redhawks. The last time these two rivals faced off, the Salukis took a 7-6 victory in Carbondale on April 26, 2022. 
 
The Salukis are currently on a five game win streak in the series. The Redhawks last defeated SIU on March 6, 2019 by a final score of 11-9.
 
Last Time Out
The Redhawks took two-out-of-three over the weekend at OVC member Southern Indiana beginning with a 13-4 victory on Thursday night. 
 
LHP Noah Niznik tossed five complete innings only allowing three hits, and two unearned runs. The lefty struck out six batters over 21 USI batters. 
 
The Redhawks dropped game two on Friday night by a final score of 9-6. Josh Cameron hit his third home run of the series in the first inning of Friday's contest, but USI used a big fifth and sixth inning to steal game two. 
 
Saturday's series finale saw the Redhawks explode for 14 runs to end the game in seven innings, 14-2. 
 
The Redhawks pounded out 13 hits led by Lincoln Andrews who went 3-for-5 at the plate with five RBIs. 
 
LHP Haden Dow improved to 3-1 on the season pitching five complete innings, allowing just one earned runs. Dow struck out four batters over 21 faced to secure the Redhawks seventh OVC victory.

Outfielder Josh Cameron had a great  week offensively going 10-for-17 (.588) over the last four games. Cameron held a 1.235 slugging percentage, including three home runs and a pair of doubles. The lefty also scored 10 runs, having an on-base percentage of .667.
 
Last Tuesday
Southeast Missouri fell in midweek action on Tuesday night at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Ky. by a final score of 11-8. 
 
Lincoln Andrews paced the way for the Redhawks finishing the game 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI for a SEMO offense that rattled off 11 hits. 
 
Brett Graber got the Redhawks on the board first in the first inning with an infield single to third base to give the Redhawks a 1-0 lead. 
 
A back-and-forth affair, Chance Resetich put the Redhawks back on top with a bases clearing triple in the fifth inning to give SEMO a 6-5 lead. 
 
The Racers used the sixth, seventh, and eighth inning to pull away by a final score of 11-8. 
 
Resetich finished the day going 2-for-6 with four RBIs.
 
RBI Leaders
Chance Resetich currently leads the Redhawks in RBIs with 30. Josh Cameron follows close behind with 27, Lincoln Andrews has 26, and short stop Peyton Leeper sits at 24. 
 
Leeper Gets On
Peyton Leeper drew two walks over last week's games. The shortstop now leads the team with 23 base-on-balls and leads the team with a .426 on-base percentage. 
New Home Run King
After a three homerun week, Josh Cameron leads the clubhouse with eight home runs on the campaign. Carlos Aranda sits at six, while Peyton Leeper and Lincoln Andrews are tied with four.
 
Jevon Leads the Conference
Outfielder Jevon Mason is currently the Ohio Valley Conference leader in hits (43). He currently leads over Andrew Fernandez (42) of UTM and Tyler Williams (41) of Little Rock.
 
OVC Leaderboard
SEMO is sprinkled throughout the OVC statistical leaders. Jevon Mason is third in the league with a .352 batting average.
 
Mason, Cameron, Resetich are fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, in runs scored. Mason (32), Cameron (31), Resetich (28) also lead the team in runs scored. 
 
Carlos Aranda leads the OVC in hit-by-pitches. Aranda has been plunked a league-leading 14 times. 
 
Noah Niznik is third in the league with a 2.82 ERA. Fellow LHP is currently sixth with a 3.53 ERA. 
 
About Southern Illinois
Southern Illinois Salukis come into Tuesday's midweek contest in the middle of a five-game winning streak having swept Belmont over the previous weekend. 
 
The Salukis took games 1 & 3 in extra innings to complete the series sweep. 
 
Nathan Bandy leads SIU with a .384 batting average. Bandy currently has 43 hits on the season, second on the team. 
 
Pier-Olivier Boucher leads SIU with 50 hits, including a .642 slugging percentage. He has nine home runs on the season. 
 
Ben Chapman is the Salukis top pitcher in terms of ERA with a 4.32 mark. Chapman has struck out 35 opposing batters over 41 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting just .256 off of Chapman all season.
 
Looking Ahead
Southeast Missouri will be back in action on Friday, April 14 to take on Tennessee Tech for 'Fill The Hill' Friday. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m., CT. at Capaha Field.
