CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Lindsay Ockler and
Nyah Reader of SEMO gymnastics took home a pair of awards on Wednesday. Ockler received Co-Gymnast of the Week while Reader earned Performance of the Week by the Midwest Independent Conference, the league announced Wednesday morning.
After missing last week's meet with an injury,
Lindsay Ockler bounced back in a big way for the Redhawks on Friday night with two really impressive scores. Ockler led the Redhawks on the Vault rotation with a 9.875, and led the Redhawks on the Bars with a 9.850.
Nyah Reader got the second highest score on the floor routine for the Redhawks Friday night against Illinois State with a 9.850. Reader, a Sophomore from Rexford, New York, also led the Redhawks on the Beam with a 9.825 from the sixth spot in the lineup.
For both athletes the award is their first of the season.
SEMO Gymnastics will be back in action on Friday, March 10, in Columbia, Mo. When they take part in the University of Missouri Quad Meet. Competition is slated to begin at 7 p.m., CT.
