SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Southeast Missouri (5-2) completed a two-match sweep in Illinois with a dominating 7-0 shutout over Illinois-Springfield (0-2) Saturday.
SEMO notched its second shutout of the season and picked up its fourth-straight victory along the way.
The Redhawks took all six wins with straight set victories in singles play and won at both the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to lock up the doubles point.
Daniela Hlacikova continued her winning ways posting her sixth-straight singles win and fourth in a row at the No. 1 spot. Hlacikova is 4-0 in No. 1 singles thus far. She beat Sina Skjelstad, 6-2, 6-0.
Romana Tarajova competed behind Hlacikova at the No. 2 position, defeating Eva Rubio, 6-3, 6-4.
Ksenia Shikanova won over Marianela Landi, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 3, while Trinity Calinescu beat Riann Hsu, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4.
Teona Velkoska upended Franca Bucco, 6-1, 6-2, and
Lera Valeeva defeated Kamila Kalinowska, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Tarajova and Shikanova took down Rubio and Landi, 6-3, in No. 1 doubles and Calinescu and Lai beat Skjelstad and Kalinowska, 6-2, at No. 3.
The Redhawks, 5-1 in their last six matches, host Missouri State in their home-opener Mar. 3-4.
