Lai and Talieu Advance Out of Qualifiers

Lawrence, Kan. - Vivian Lai and Juliette Talieu picked up two wins a piece to advance out of qualifiers and into the main draw at the 2023 ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Division I Women's Central Regional Championship.
Both Lai and Talieu defeated one opponent in the opening round of qualifying and another opponet in the second round of qualifying.
Lai defeated Cassie Cervantes from Oral Roberts (6-2, 6-1) and Khayli Buckels from Nebraska Omaha (1-6, 6-2, 10-7).
Talieu beat Central Arkansas's Ting-An Chen this morning (6-2, 7-5) and fought back against SLU's Kseniia Aleshina to win in the third set 10-7.
Freshman Maja Bajorek dominated her first match winning 6-2 and 6-1 against Jordan Le from Lindenwood but fell in the round of 64 against Oriana Parkins Godwin.
Ewa Czapulak battled back against Konomi Miyakawa from UCA winning two two straight sets to end the match (2-6, 6-1, 10-8). Czapolek lost her afternoon game to Minnesota's Emma Belluomini.
Daniela Hlacikova, Trinity Calinescu, and Lera Valeeva received automatic bids to the main draw and will start competition tomorrow.
The Redhawks will also compete in the doubles tournament tomorrow as well as singles.
