Redhawks Register a Season-High 195.350 Friday Night at Tennessee Collegiate Classic

LEBANON, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics was in action on Friday night, Jan. 20, 2023, in the Tennessee Collegiate Classic at the Farm Bureau Expo Center in Lebanon, Tenn. as they took on Ball State, MIC-member Lindenwood, Kent State, and Fisk.

The Redhawks recorded a season-high score posting a 195.350 as a team which resulted in a fourth-place finish, ahead of Fisk.

Ball State recorded the highest score with an overall total of 196.550 to win the event, followed by Lindenwood (196.175), then Kent State (195.525) in third.

First year program and HBCU, Fisk, competed in Friday night's event as well finishing with a 190.025 overall team score in the final spot.

The Redhawks led off on Bars, one of the stronger rotations thus far in 2023 for SEMO. Sophomore Janelle Lopez recorded the highest score for the Redhawks in the rotation, posting a 9.825 on the Bars from the sixth spot in SEMO's order.

For Lopez, the 9.825 is her new season-high on the Bars and is the highest score on the event so far in 2023.

Jolie Miller, the 2022 MIC Bars Champion, posted her highest score of the event in 2023 for the Redhawks with a 9.800 in the fifth spot.

As a team, SEMO registered a score of 48.600 on the bars which sets the 2023 season-high on the rotation.

The Redhawks then rotated to the Beam for the second rotation.

Freshman Taylor Ingle set a new career-high on the Beam from the second spot for SEMO, registering a 9.875. Previously, the Freshman in just her third collegiate meet, her highest total came last weekend (1/14) with a 9.550 on the beam.

Nyah Reader achieved a new season-high from the sixth spot on the beam for SEMO, registering a 9.825 which was also good enough for her career-best finish for the event.

Senior Jordan Jones had a very strong performance on the beam, finishing with a 9.775 which was third on the Redhawks in the rotation.

Following the Beam, SEMO transitioned to the floor where the spotlight could not have been on brighter for Senior Mallory Desch who made her season-debut on Friday night.

Desch competed as an exhibition routine, but Friday night's action marked her first time competing for the Redhawks since a devastating, season-ending injury last season.

Madison Greene led SEMO with the highest floor-score, registering a 9.850 which just narrowly missed her season and career-high of 9.875. The Kentucky-native received the 9.875 last weekend (1/14).

Back-to-back events with strong performances from Nyah Reader, who scored a 9.825 for SEMO on the floor, the second-highest score in the rotation.

Both Lydia Webb and Jordan Jones recorded 9.800 as SEMO registered a 49.050 team-score for the floor routine which set a new season-high for the Redhawks as a team.

The final rotation saw the Redhawks take to the vault as Madison Greene, Janelle Lopez, and Lydia Webb led the way for SEMO.

Greene continued her strong performance registering a 9.875 from the final spot in the Redhawks vault order. The 9.875 surpassed her previous score set last weekend, for her new season high.

Janelle Lopez, who led the Redhawks on Bars, earned a 9.825 from the fifth spot to continue her personal success on Friday night. She recorded the second-highest score on the final rotation.

From the fourth spot, Lydia Webb got a pair of 9.80's from the judges to receive a 9.800 for her vault routine which gave her the third highest score on the rotation for SEMO.

The Redhawks recorded a 48.925 team score on the vault which is the new season-high for SEMO.

Lydia Webb led the Redhawks in the all-around category posting a 38.975 followed by Taylor Ingle who registered a 38.375.
