Redhawks Down St. Louis and Lindenwood Saturday in Fall Tennis Hidden Dual

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis continued its 2022 fall season with a pairing of dominating wins over St. Louis and Lindenwood Saturday at the Lindenwood Tennis Courts. The Redhawks downed SLU, 6-1, before sweeping Lindenwood, 7-0. 
 
SEMO dropped the doubles point to Saint Louis to open the hidden dual Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks then rallied off six-straight singles wins over the Billikens.
 
Romana Tarajova fought past Elizabeth Mintusova, 6-7, 6-4, 10-8, at the top singles position. 
 
Daniela Hlacikova eased past Sandra Gines, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2. 
 
At the third slot, Ksenia Shikanova beat Ksenia Aleshina, 6-3, 6-4, in the battle of the Ksenias. 
 
Cosima Trinity Calinescu continued the singles dominance, edging Mya Spencer, 6-1, 6-3, at the fourth spot. 
 
Vivian Lai downed Kate Sexton, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5. 
 
Teona Velkoska had to fight back after dropping the first set to overcome Lizzie Barlow, 4-6, 6-1, 10-4, at the final singles position. 
 
Following that win, SEMO then claimed all seven points against newly joined Ohio Valley Conference opponent Lindenwood. 
 
The Redhawks secured the doubles point, winning all three of those matches.
 
Hlacikova and Velkoska beat Nawal Cheema and Trang Tran, 6-1, at No. 1 before Tarajova and Lai downed Juliana Kulczynski and Alina Jensterle, 6-0.
 
Shikanova and Calinescu then overcame Jordan Le and Eveline Nilsson, 7-5, at the third slot. 
 
Hlacikova defeated Nilsson, 6-1, 6-0, competing at the No. 1 slot. 
 
Shikanova then overcame Jordan Le via retirement (3-6, 1-0) at the second position.
 
Calinescu dropped Trang Tran, 6-2, 6-2, at third singles. 
 
Lai then eased past Alina Jensterle, 6-3, 6-0, at the fourth slot. 
 
Velkoska (SEMO) beat Juliana Kulczynski, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5 and Tarajova defeated Nawal Cheema, 6-0, 6-2, at the final spot to complete the sweep. 
 
The Redhawks next continue their fall season Saturday, Oct. 8, hosting the Redhawk Invitational at the John C. Bierk Redhawks Tennis Complex in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
