Jolie Miller and
Anna Kaziska will compete Thursday in the 2022 National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Championships Seattle Regional at the Alaska Airlines Arena in Washington. Miller and Kaziska will rotate with Alabama in the first session of the Regional at 3 p.m., CT. Kaziska will compete on floor in the first rotation and beam in the final rotation. Miller will be on bars in the third rotation.
Miller, the 2022 Midwest Independent Conference Bars Champion, will compete on bars at her first career Regional while Kaziska, the 2022 MIC Senior Athlete of the Year, will compete on floor and beam in her third career Regional.
The 2022 NCAA Seattle Regional will be broadcasted on
ESPN+.
SEMO last had more than one Regional qualifier when Alexis Brawner (all-around), Lauren Israel (all-around) and McKinzie Jones (floor) competed at the 2016 NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional.
Miller most recently captured the 2022 MIC Bars title, tying teammate
Lindsay Ockler with consecutive scores of 9.900 in the final rotation for First-Team All-MIC honors.
Miller, a junior from Aurora, Colorado, ranks first in the MIC for bars with an NQS of 9.865 (T-19th in the South Central Region).
She has registered seven bars routines of 9.800 or higher this season including a 9.850, a pair of 9.875s, a 9.900 and a career-high 9.950. Miller has surpassed 9.700 on bars in all but two meets (9 of 11) in 2022.
Miller registered a career-best and SEMO program-high 9.950 to win the event against Illinois State on Feb. 25. The bars mark put Miller first overall in SEMO program history edging the previous school record of 9.925 held by head coach Ashley (Godwin) Lawson (2004) and Malia Roberts (1999). Miller was awarded MIC Performance of the Week after the bars routine.
She has won three event titles including the 2022 MIC Bars title this season.
Kaziska most recently took third on floor at the 2022 MIC Championship with a 9.850 for First-Team All-MIC laurels. She also grabbed Second-Team All-MIC honors for beam with a 9.700.
Kaziska was named the 2022 MIC Senior Athlete of the Year ahead of the Championship in Denton, Texas.
Kaziska led the MIC in 2022 on floor and beam with NQS scores of 9.900 (8th in the South Central Region) and 9.870 (15th in the South Central Region), respectively.
On floor, Kaziska has totaled 10 scores of 9.775 or higher in 2022. In the last nine meets, Kaziska hasn't scored lower than a 9.800. She hit a 9.900 at Lindenwood on Jan. 29 before adding a 9.925 at home against Lindenwood on Feb. 11.
Kaziska then posted a career-best 9.950 to earn the title in a dual with Illinois State on Feb. 25. She ranks fifth all-time in SEMO program history for floor with Alexis Traylor (2004) and Kate Farrington (1995).
Kaziska then matched her career high 9.950 on floor to capture her 10th event title in 2022 (47 career titles) at Illinois State on March 12. It was Kaziska's second 9.950 in just over two weeks.
On beam, Kaziska has registered a 9.775 or higher in eight of the last nine competitions this season and nine times this campaign. She has tallied four 9.875s this season and added a season-best 9.900 to win the event title against Illinois State on Feb. 25.
Kaziska paces the Redhawks in 2022 with 10 individual event titles (five beam and five floor) and 21 scores of 9.700 or higher. She has earned MIC Performance of the Week three times in 2022 and MIC Gymnast of the Week once. Kaziska was also named a nominee for the 2022 AAI Award on Feb. 21.
Kaziska will make her third career NCAA Regional appearance in Seattle. She qualified for the Baton Rouge Regional in 2019 as a freshman and scored a 9.825 on floor (t-17th).
She most recently competed at the Salt Lake City Regional in 2021 on beam and floor. Kaziska registered a 9.900 on floor for third overall at the Salt Lake City Regional and a 9.875 on beam (t-9th) in 2021.
Washington is the host institution in a regional that also includes Utah, Alabama, Michigan State, Oregon State, Illinois, Brigham Young, Stanford and San Jose State.
On Wednesday, Stanford and San Jose State will participate in a play-in dual to determine which team will compete the following day.
Washington will face Alabama, Michigan State, and BYU on Thursday in the first session of the 2022 NCAA Regionals competition. Utah, Oregon State, Illinois, and the winner of Stanford and San Jose State are set to compete later that day in the second session at 9 p.m.
The top two teams from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships. In addition, the top all-around competitor and top event specialist from round two at each regional (who is not on a team advancing to nationals) will advance to the national championships. Event specialist qualifiers will only compete in the events they qualified.
The national championships will take place April 14-16 in Fort Worth, Texas, at Dickies Arena. The championship event is hosted by Texas Woman's University and Knight Eady. The top two teams from the Norman and Seattle regionals will compete in the first semifinal, and the top two teams from the Auburn and Raleigh regionals will compete in the second semifinal.
