DENTON, Texas – Jolie Miller and
Lindsay Ockler tied for the 2022 Midwest Independent Conference Bars Championship as Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics finished fourth overall at the Championship with a team-score of 193.425 Friday evening at the Kitty Magee Arena.
Host Texas Woman's captured the 2022 MIC Championship with 195.750 followed by Lindenwood (194.875) and Illinois State (194.275). Centenary was fifth, totaling 189.350.
SEMO earned 14 All-MIC honors at the conclusion of the Championship (the top-six scores including ties on each event).
Ockler registered a pair of First-Team All-MIC honors. She took first on bars with a career-best 9.900 with Miller (First-Team All-MIC on bars). Ockler was also the runner-up on vault, notching a 9.825 for First-Team All-MIC.
Anna Kaziska, the 2022 MIC Senior Athlete of the Year, took third on floor with a 9.850 for First-Team All-MIC laurels. She also grabbed Second-Team All-MIC honors for beam with a 9.700.
Lydia Webb (38.875, fourth) and
Molly Maxwell (37.750, sixth) both competed in the all-around competition, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively, for Second-Team All-MIC honors.
Webb paced the Redhawks with four All-MIC honors, appearing on the second team for bars (9.775), beam (9.675) and floor (9.750) in addition to the all-around competition.
Maxwell was also named to the All-MIC Second-Team for floor, tallying a 9.750.
Madison Greene earned Second-Team All-MIC honors on vault (9.725, PR) and on floor (9.750). Her vault mark was a career high.
Freshman
Nyah Reader was also tabbed to the All-MIC Second-Team for floor (9.750).
SEMO opened the 2022 MIC Championship on beam with a 48.150 Friday. Kaziska paced the Redhawks with a 9.700.
Webb added a 9.675 in the fourth lineup slot.
Nyah Reader posted a 9.650 followed by Maxwell (9.625) and Miller (9.500).
The Redhawks then compiled a 48.850 on floor in the second rotation.
Kaziska registered her third 9.850 in 2022 to lead SEMO on the discipline and tie for third overall Friday.
It was Kaziska's 10th score of 9.775 or higher on floor this season and ninth-straight competition with a floor score above 9.800.
Reader, Maxwell, Webb, and Greene all notched 9.750s in the first, third, fourth and fifth lineup slots, respectively.
For Reader, a freshman from Rexford, New York, the mark was a career best.
Ockler finished with a 9.600 on the floor exercise.
SEMO then posted a 48.375 on vault before heading to a bye in the fourth rotation of the evening.
Ockler, a freshman from Huson, Montana, hit her third-straight 9.825 of the season to finish second overall at the Championship.
Greene, a freshman from Crestwood, Kentucky, was second on SEMO with a career high 9.725 after making her vault debut in the regular-season finale at Illinois State on March 12.
Webb chipped in a 9.675 in the third lineup spot.
Reader and Maxwell both had 9.575, achieved in the second and fifth slots, to round out the Redhawk scorers on vault.
SEMO wrapped up the Championship with a 48.050 on bars.
Ockler and Miller paced the Redhawks with consecutive 9.900s in the final two routines of the evening to capture the MIC title. The duo both were awarded First-Team All-MIC honors for their performances Friday.
It was the first MIC bars Championship for SEMO student-athletes since Alyssa Tucker took first in 2016.
The score was a personal best for Ockler and her third-straight mark of 9.850 plus. She has now earned two event titles in 2022 and ranks tied for fourth in SEMO program history for the score.
For Miller, it was her third bars title of the season.
Webb finished with a 9.775 on bars and
Ashley Albrecht had a 9.425.
SEMO will next travel to the Empire State to defend its 2021 crown at the 2022 USA Gymnastics National Championship April 7-10 in Ithaca, New York. The competition will be held on the campus of Cornell.
The 2022 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship teams, all-around competitors, and individual event specialists will be announced on Tuesday, March 22, prior to regional competition (March 30-April 2).
