Redhawks Sign Left-Handed Pitcher Alex Hayes

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri signed left-handed pitcher Alex Hayes Monday.
Hayes, who hails from Muskego, Wisconsin, went 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 14 appearances and four starts as a freshman at Madison College last season. He struck out 41 and walked only four in 44 innings of work. Hayes added two saves, as well. He helped lead the WolfPack to a 49-11 record and runner-up finish in the NJCAA Division II Baseball National Championship.
"Alex is a winner who led Madison College to the National Championship game as a freshman," said SEMO Head Coach Andy Sawyers. "He is an elite level strike thrower that profiles as a starter at the next level."
Hayes was a two-sport (baseball, football) athlete and two-time letterwinner at Muskego High School. He was named First-Team All-Conference in the Classic 8 Conference as a senior and was selected a WBCA Senior All-Star. Hayes garnered Prep Baseball Report First-Team All-State accolades.
Hayes joines shortstop Brooks Kettering in the Redhawks 2024 class.
