Box Score CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri put together a strong showing during its two-day Redhawk Invitational at the John C. Bierk Tennis Complex this weekend.
 
Friday, October 7
 
SEMO opened its home tournament with a pair of doubles victories over Western Illinois Friday. 

The Redhawks won all four matches in the opener before taking three of four in the second doubles matchup of the day.
 
Daniela Hlacikova and Teona Velkoska picked up a pair of victories at the top slot. The team beat Maria Rybka and Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza, 6-3, and then Lucky Kancherla and Maria Rybka, 6-1.
 
At No. 2, Romana Tarajova teamed up with Vivian Lai to defeat Paige Grice and Lorena Castellanos, 6-3. Tarajova then edged Paige Grice and Aina Cortina-Pou, 6-2, with Lai. 
 
Ksenia Shikanova and Cosima Trinity Calinescu went 1-1 at the third spot. The duo beat Aina Cortina-Pou and Lucky Kancherla, 6-2, before falling to Agatha Carbonell and Lorena Castellanos, 6-4, in the evening match.
 
Lera Valeeva beat Agatha Carbonell, 6-2, in a singles match to start Friday. Vivian Lai also dropped Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza, 6-1, in an extra singles match in the night cap. 
 
Saturday, October 8
 
The Redhawks commenced Saturday with a dual win over the Leathernecks, securing wins at the three doubles positions and all seven singles slots. 
 
Each of the first six players in SEMO's singles lineup won in straight sets before Lera Valeeva defeated Maria Rybka in three bouts, 6-1, 4-6, 10-4. The Redhawks also swept all three doubles matches against WIU.
 
SEMO finished the day strong with a dominating effort over Southern Indiana.
 
Tarajova (6-1, 6-1), Hlacikova (6-3, 6-4), Calinescu (6-0, 6-0), Shikanova (6-3, 6-0), Valeeva (6-1, 6-1), Velkoska (6-1, 6-1) and Lai (8-0) took care of their opponents handily in singles play.
 
Doubles was just as impressive with all three of SEMO's tandems winning by identical 6-1 scores.
 
The Redhawks will continue their fall slate at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma beginning Oct. 12.
