Redhawks Set to Face Northern Illinois and Lindenwood Friday at Tennessee Collegiate Classic
Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics heads to Lebanon, Tennessee, Friday to face Northern Illinois and Lindenwood in the Tennessee Collegiate Classic held at the Farm Bureau Exposition Center. The meet will begin at 6 p.m., CT and is hosted by Meet Authority Productions and
USAInvitationalGymnastics.com.

Northern Illinois
The Huskies most recently finished second overall at Kent State's Tri Meet Jan. 16 with SEMO. NIU posted its second consecutive score of 194+ to start the 2022 season with event scores ranging from 48.775 on floor exercise to 48.300 on uneven parallel bars. The Huskies tallied a 48.700 on balance beam and a 48.375 on vault.

Tara Kofmehl earned the top score of the day for the Huskies as she scored a 9.850 on floor exercise to tie for first. Kofmehl was second in the all-around with a total of 38.450 and was one of a trio of Huskies to tie for second place on vault as she, Morgan Hooper and Isabella Sissi all earned a score of 9.775 to lead NIU.

Lindenwood
Lindenwood beat Wisconsin- La Crosse in a head to head matchup on Jan. 15 in Hyland Arena, 191.325- 188.7500. Trinity Caffey won vault with a 9.675 while Riley Daniels took bars with a score of 9.650. Hadley Roberts hit a 9.850 on beam to capture the event title. Gayla Griswold won the all-around competition and floor title with 38.075 and 9.7500, respectively.

Know Thy Foe
SEMO will face Lindenwood in each of the next five competitions including Friday's Tennessee Collegiate Classic. The Redhawks will also compete against the Lions at the 2022 MIC Championships March 18 in Denton, Texas.

SEMO has competed at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic each of the past two seasons.

The Redhawks finished first overall at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic tri meet Jan. 22, 2021 at the Farm Bureau Exposition Center with a season-best 193.950.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso captured the all-around crown with a 39.050. Solorzano-Caruso matched career-bests on vault (9.850, second) and floor (9.825, second).
Anna Kaziska won the individual beam title at her second-straight competition with a 9.825.

SEMO posted its second-highest team score in school history Feb. 28, 2020 to overcome Northern Illinois, 195.800-194.775, in the Tennessee Collegiate Classic held at the Wilson County Expo Center.

Jolie Miller won her first career individual event title with her second career score of 9.700 or higher. In the opening bars rotation, Miller posted a career-best 9.875 in the second position.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso captured the all-around title with a personal-best score of 39.350. She tallied a pair of personal-best 9.850s on vault and bars before concluding the meet with 9.825s on beam and floor.
Anna Kaziska was second in the all-around competition with 39.100.

Kaziska Awarded MIC Performance of the Week

Anna Kaziska was awarded the Midwest Independent Conference Performance of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Â
Kaziska, the reigning 2021 USA Gymnastics Beam Champion, won the event with a 9.875 in the final routine on beam Sunday (Jan. 16) at Kent State's Tri Meet. The title was her 38th in her career at SEMO. Kaziska also competed on floor (9.775) and vault (9.525) at SEMO's season-opening tri meet.

For Kaziska, a Louisville, Kentucky, native, the MIC weekly honor is her first of the season and 12th in her career.

2022 Season Opener Recap
SEMO opened its 2022 season with a team score of 191.500 Jan. 16 at Kent State's tri meet held at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center. Host Kent State won the tri with a team score of 195.300. Northern Illinois was second with 194.150. SEMO was third at the tri with a mark of 191.500.
The Redhawks best event at the tri was 48.050 on bars. SEMO also had a 47.850 on floor, a 47.825 on beam and 47.775 on vault.Â

Lindsay Ockler led SEMO with consecutive 9.800s in the final two bars lineup slots, which tied for fifth overall.

Jordan Jones was the second highest Redhawk on beam, notching a 9.725 to take seventh overall at the meet.

Lydia Webb finished third in the all-around competition Jan. 16 at Kent State's tri meet with 38.150 andÂ
Molly Maxwell took fourth with a total of 37.175.

Webb, a sophomore from Wylie, Texas, competed in the all-around for the first time in her career Jan. 16 after serving as a floor specialist in 2021. She notched a 9.650 on bars, a 9.550 on beam, a 9.500 on floor and a 9.450 on vault.

Maxwell notched a 9.600 on vault to accompany 9.550 on beam and 9.500 on floor.

Nyah Reader all made their Redhawk debuts at Kent State's tri meet Jan. 16.

Madison Greene was second on SEMO with a 9.625 on floor in her collegiate debut behind her former club teammate from Champion Gymnastics in Kentucky,
Anna Kaziska.

Lindsay Ockler registered her first two career scores of 9.700 or higher the tri. She paced the Redhawks on vault and bars. Ockler posted a 9.750 on vault in the second rotation for sixth overall at the tri. She then added a 9.800 on bars for fifth overall at the meet. Ockler opened the meet with a 9.450 on vault.

Nyah Reader competed on vault, beam (8.250) and floor (8.850) in her Redhawks debut at Kent State's tri meet. Her best event was a 9.450 on vault.

Ashley Albrecht returned to the Redhawks vault and bars lineups at Kent State's tri meet Jan. 16 after suffering an injury during the 2021 season. She posted a 9.675 on bars and a 9.100 on vault in her first meet back from injury since Feb. 22, 2021 against Lindenwood.

2021 Signees
SEMO head coachÂ
Ashley Lawson announced Nov. 10 the team had inked two student-athletes during the early signing period. Taylor Ingle and Sydney Crouch will join the team next fall for the 2023 season.

Ingle, a Coppell, Texas native, will graduate from Coppell High School in 2022. She was a state, regional and National qualifier in her junior year. Ingle most recently won the 2021 state championship with Texas Dream Gymnastics.

Crouch, who comes to Cape Girardeau by way of Coral Springs, Florida, will graduate from Coral Springs Charter School in 2022. She was a State, Regional and National Qualifier in 2021 during her junior year.

2022 Schedule
The Redhawks will compete in 12 meets while hosting two home competitions with fellow Midwest Independent Conference institutions Illinois State and Lindenwood.

The Redhawks head to Centenary in Shreveport, Louisiana, March 4 before a marquee quad meet against host, Texas Woman's, perennial powerhouse, Oklahoma, and Air Force, March 6 in Denton, Texas. SEMO concludes the regular-season at Illinois State March 12 in Normal, Illinois.

The Redhawks will then travel back to Denton, Texas, for the 2022 MIC Championship, which will be contested on Friday, March 18 at Texas Women's University.

To wrap up the season, SEMO will travel to the Empire State to defend its 2021 crown at the 2022 USA Gymnastics National Championship April 7-10 in Ithaca, New York. The competition will be held on the campus of Cornell.

2021 USA Gymnastics National Champions
The Redhawks captured the 2021 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championship April 10 at the Show Me Center with a team score of 195.025. Trailing Lindenwood 145.725-145.650 entering the final rotation, SEMO tied a program-best 49.375 on beam to secure the Championship.

SEMO's beam score of 49.375Â matched the program-record set at the 2003 MIC Championships (March 29, 2003) where head coachÂ
Ashley Lawson (then Godwin) led SEMO on the event with a 9.975. SEMO also recorded a 48.900 on vault at the 2021 USAG Championship, which tied for the seventh-highest score in SEMO program history.

2021 in Review
SEMO registered a team score of 194.825 to take third at the 2021 Midwest Independent Conference Championships March 19 at Redbird Arena on the campus of Illinois State. Eight Redhawks earned All-MIC honors for their performances at the Championships and head coachÂ
Ashley Lawson was named the 2021 MIC Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the meet. For Lawson, it was her second-straight season earning the honor.

SEMO averaged a team score of 193.498 in 2021 including six-straight marks of 194 or higher to conclude the season. The Redhawks season-high of 195.150 achieved against Illinois State and Lindenwood on Senior Day (March 12) ranks 10th all-time in SEMO program history. The Redhawks averaged a 48.000 plus on every event this season including a 48.555 on beam, 48.527 on floor, 48.236 on vault and 48.180 on bars. The SEMO season-best floor score of 49.225 posted on March 12 ranks ninth in the school's record books.

Redhawks Crushing it in the ClassroomÂ
Southeast Missouri ranked 13th among the nation's top Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) academic teams for the 2020-21 season. SEMO posted a 3.78 GPA with 18 of its student-athletes named Academic All-Americans. Over 94 percent of the 2021 Redhawks roster registered a 3.5 or higher GPA.
