BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Carli Knott, the 2021 Ohio Valley Conference 1,500 meters Champion, ran in the event Thursday evening at the 2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships West Preliminary held at E.B. Cushing Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M.
Knott finished 10th in the opening of four heats Thursday. The senior from Jackson, Missouri, crossed the finish in 4:31.54 for 38th overall at the Preliminary.
Madison Heisterman of Washington won the first heat in 4:18.47. Brigham Young's Whittni Orton posted the fastest time of the night with 4:16.16.
The top five runners from each heat plus the next four best times advanced to the quarterfinals Friday at 7:35 p.m., CT.
Donald Hatfield Jackson will next compete in the high jump, his second event of the Preliminary, Friday at 1 p.m., CT.
Kaitlyn Shea, the 2021 OVC Women's Track Athlete of the Year, will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Saturday evening at 6:10 p.m., CT.
