NORMAL, Ill. – Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics registered a team-score of 194.825 to take third at the 2021 Midwest Independent Conference Championships Friday afternoon at Redbird Arena on the campus of Illinois State.
Eight Redhawks earned All-MIC honors for their performances at the Championships and head coach
Ashley Lawson was named the 2021 MIC Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the meet.
For Lawson, it was her second-straight season earning the honor.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso paced the Redhawks with five All-MIC team honors on beam (first team), bars (second team), vault (second team), floor (first team) and in the all-around (first team).
She finished as the runner-up in the all-around competition with 39.150.
Molly Maxwell totaled 37.700 for fifth overall in the all-around for second-team All-MIC honors.
Jolie Miller (bars first team and beam second team),
Michael Sanders (vault and floor second teams) and
Anna Kaziska (vault second team and floor first team) were each named to two All-MIC teams.
Alana Fischer (bars second team),
Anna Speller (beam first team),
Jordan Jones (floor second team) and Maxwell (all-around second team) also placed in the top-six for All-MIC honors.
Lindenwood won the team championship with 195.575 and ISU finished second with a team score of 195.225. Texas Woman's was fourth (193.450) and Centenary was fifth (188.725) at the Championships.
SEMO opened the Championships with a 48.625 on bars after a bye during the first rotation. Miller finished third overall at the meet with 9.825 to lead the Redhawks on the event.
Fischer and Solorzano-Caruso, the two SEMO Canadians, posted 9.775s in the third and fifth lineup slots.
Lindsey Bates added a 9.675 and
Lindsey Moffitt rounded out the rotation with 9.575.
The Redhawks then compiled a 48.725 on beam in the third rotation Friday. Speller and Solorzano-Caruso tied for third overall at the Championships with 9.825. Miller chipped in a 9.725 and Maxwell finished with 9.700. Kaziska concluded the SEMO scorers with a score of 9.650.
SEMO then danced its way to a 48.725 on floor in the fourth rotation of the day. Kaziska took fourth overall at the meet with a mark of 9.850. Solorzano-Caruso tallied a 9.775 and Jones added a 9.725. Sanders (9.700) and Maxwell (9.675) rounded out the SEMO rotation.
The Redhawks then finished the Championships with 48.750 on vault. Solorzano-Caruso and Sanders each hit 9.775 to wrap up the rotation in the fifth and sixth lineup slots. Kaziska chipped in a 9.750.
Gabrielle Adams and
Lydia Test commenced the SEMO rotation with 9.725s in the first two lineup slots.
SEMO will next host the 2021 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships April 10-11 at the Show Me Center. The team finals will be contested April 10 at 2 p.m., CT and the individual event finals will take place on April 11 at 1 p.m.
