Redhawks Take On Illinois State and Lindenwood in Senior Night Tri Meet Friday
Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics will compete against Illinois State and Lindenwood Friday on Senior Night at Houck Field House. First rotation is slated for 6:30 p.m. in the tri meet.
SEMO will rotate in Olympic order while Lindenwood will start on bars and Illinois State will open the tri on beam.
At the conclusion of the meet, SEMO will recognize seniors
Gabrielle Adams,
Alana Fischer and
Michael Sanders for their careers as Redhawks.
Scouting the Opponents
Redbirds
Illinois State most recently competed in a double-meet weekend at Northern Illinois with Iowa State on March 5 and a home quad meet against Central Michigan, NIU and Lindenwood on March 7. The Redbirds posted a mark of 194.650 for third behind the Cyclones and Huskies at the Convocation Center in the weekend opener. ISU then posted a season-high score of 195.725 to place second at their home quad.
Angelica Labat repeated as the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week and Cameron Topp was honored with MIC Performance of the Week on Tuesday.
Lions
Lindenwood compiled a team score of 194.800 in Illinois State's quad meet on March 7. The Lions notched a season-high 49.100 on bars.
Courtney Mitchell paced the Lions on bars with a career-high 9.900. Mitchell and Hadley Roberts led the way on beam, earning 9.750s. The Lions compiled a 48.750 on vault, which was their second-highest scoring event. Kyndall Baze earned a 9.800 in the event, leading Lindenwood. Baze also led the Lions on floor with a 9.800.
Season-High For Your Redhawks
SEMO registered a season-best 195.050 to capture first at its tri meet with Illinois State and Centenary Feb. 26 at the Show Me Center. SEMO etched its name in the school record books with a 49.125 on beam and a 49.200 on floor in the victory. The beam mark ranks fourth all-time in SEMO history and the floor score puts the 2021 Redhawks ninth for the event in the record books. The team-score is 12th overall in school history.
Anna Kaziska captured the beam title with her seventh career-best tying mark of 9.875. Kaziska and
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso (career-best) also tied for first at the tri on floor with consecutive 9.875s to conclude the meet. Solorzano-Caruso placed second in the all-around competition with a total of 39.075.
SEMO Completes Double-Meet Weekend with 194.275
Four Redhawks captured individual event titles as SEMO totaled 194.275 to best Centenary Feb. 28 at the Show Me Center. SEMO completed its double-meet home weekend with its third-straight mark of 194 or higher in 2021.
Alana Fischer secured her first career event title with a 9.825 on beam in the third rotation. After posting a personal-best 9.850 on beam Feb. 26, the senior from Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, won her first career title with a 9.825 on the discipline Feb. 28.
Anna Kaziska won the floor title with a career-best 9.925 in the final rotation of the afternoon dual. Kaziska's previous career-high on floor was a 9.900, which she had registered three times. The 9.925 earned Feb. 28 puts Kaziska tied for seventh all-time in SEMO history for floor.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso captured the vault title with a 9.775 in the first rotation at the dual while
Jolie Miller won the bars title with her third 9.800 in 2021.
G on Vault
Senior
Gabrielle Adams has notched a 9.700 or higher on vault in the past three SEMO meets. Adams posted a 9.700 on Feb. 22 at Lindenwood and most recently had a season-high 9.800 and 9.725 in the double-meet weekend Feb. 26 and 28. She has notched five scores of 9.700 or higher in 2021 and has 25 in her career at SEMO.
First Career Event Title
Alana Fischer secured her first career event title with a 9.825 on beam in the third rotation on Feb. 28. After posting a personal-best 9.850 on beam Feb. 26, the senior from Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, won her first career title with a 9.825 on the discipline.
Fischer has registered six scores of 9.700 or higher in 2021 and 23 in her career as a Redhawk.
Jones-ing for JoJo on Floor
Sophomore
Jordan Jones has competed in the last three meets for the Redhawks on floor. She has not posted a mark lower then 9.825 and registered a career-best 9.850 on Feb. 26 in the home tri meet against Centenary and Illinois State for third overall.
Anna Doing Anna Things
Anna Kaziska won the floor title on Feb. 28 with a career-best 9.925 in the final rotation of the dual with Centenary. Kaziska's previous career-high on floor was a 9.900, which she had registered three times. The 9.925 earned on Feb. 28 puts Kaziska tied for seventh all-time in SEMO history for floor.
Prior to the 9.925 on Feb. 28, Kaziska had posted consecutive 9.875s on Feb. 22 at Lindenwood and on Feb. 26 in the tri with Centenary and ISU. She hasn't recorded anything lower then a 9.800 on floor in 2021.
Kaziska matched her personal-best 9.875 on beam for the seventh time in her career on Feb. 26.
Mall Shopping Molly
Molly Maxwell recorded a career-best 9.800 on beam for second at Feb. 28's dual meet with Centenary. Maxwell also tallied her fifth career-high 9.750 floor mark at the dual.
Moffitt Coming on Strong
Lindsey Moffitt compiled career-bests on bars and floor at SEMO's double-meet weekend on Feb. 26 and 28. Moffitt posted a career-best 9.700 on bars for second overall at Feb. 28's dual with Centenary. Two days prior, the sophomore from Ferris, Texas, hit her second career-high 9.825 on floor in the home tri meet.
Speller is Stellar
Freshman
Anna Speller has proven to be quite the beam specialist for the Redhawks. Speller has posted a 9.700 or higher on beam in four of this season's competitions. Most recently, the St. Louis, Missouri native, tallied consecutive career-best 9.800s on Feb. 22 and Feb. 26.
Test on Beam
Lydia Test has registered a 9.800 or higher on beam in two of the last three competitions. The freshman from Plano, Texas, notched a 9.800 on Feb. 22 at Lindenwood and added a career-best 9.825 in the tri meet with Centenary and Illinois State on Feb. 26.
Looking Ahead
After Friday's Senior Night tri meet, SEMO will head to Normal, Illinois, for the 2021 Midwest Independent Conference Championship on Friday, March 19. First rotation is slated for 3 p.m. in the five-team Championship.
