NORMAL, Ill. – Jolie Miller won the individual bars title with a season-high 9.825 as Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics finished second with a team score of 190.925 Saturday at the Horton Field House. Host Illinois State won the Midwest Independent Conference dual meet with a 192.075.
Miller captured her second career event title with a 9.825 on bars in the opening rotation. The sophomore from Aurora, Colorado, registered the mark in the anchor position as the Redhawks notched a 48.500 on bars to start the dual.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso tied for second on bars with a 9.750 and
Lindsey Bates was fourth overall at the dual with 9.700.
Alana Fischer chipped in a 9.650 and
Makenzie Marciniak had a 9.575, appearing in her first career bars lineup at SEMO.
SEMO then tallied a 46.975 on vault in the second rotation. Solorzano-Caruso paced the Redhawks with a 9.625.
Gabrielle Adams was second on the team with a 9.600.
Michael Sanders added a 9.550 and Marciniak finished with 9.425.
The Redhawks then posted a 47.825 on floor. Solorzano-Caruso tallied a 9.675 to lead SEMO.
Mallory Desch added a 9.575 and
Lydia Webb compiled a 9.550. Sanders finished with a 9.525 and
Molly Maxwell had a 9.500.
SEMO concluded the dual with a 47.625 on beam. Miller finished as the runner-up on the event with a career-best 9.750. Fischer took third at the dual with a 9.700.
Molly Maxwell turned in a routine of 9.600.
In her first meet since, Jan. 22,
Anna Kaziska, the 2020 MIC Gymnast of the Year, tallied a 9.300. Solorzano-Caruso finished the SEMO scorers on beam with a 9.275.
Solorzano-Caruso totaled a 38.325 in the all-around for third at the meet. Angelica Labat topped the competition with a 38.775 and Isabelle Fox finished second with 38.725.
The Redhawks next compete in the six-team GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational on Feb. 12 at The Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. SEMO closes out its streak of away competitions with a dual against Lindenwood on Feb. 19.
