ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics tallied season-highs on floor and beam in the final two rotations to overcome Lindenwood, 194.425-193.000, Sunday afternoon at the Robert F. Hyland Arena.
Trailing 97.550-96.900, SEMO responded with a 48.850 on floor followed by a 48.675 on beam to conclude the dual and seal the victory.
Anna Kaziska, the 2020 Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Year, led the Redhawks with a 9.875 on floor and a 9.825 on beam to win the pair of individual event titles in the final two rotations.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso won the all-around crown with a 38.350.
After registering consecutive 48.450s on bars and vault, SEMO posted a season-best 48.850 on floor in the third rotation.
Jordan Jones finished second overall at the dual behind Kaziska with a career-best 9.825 in her 2021 season debut. The sophomore from Buford, Georgia, notched the mark in the fourth SEMO lineup slot.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso added a 9.775 for fourth at the competition.
Molly Maxwell and
Lindsey Moffitt compiled season-highs of 9.725 and 9.625, respectively, in the first two lineup spots.
Lydia Webb rounded out the SEMO scorers with a 9.650.
The Redhawks completed the comeback with a season-best 48.675 on beam. Kaziska paced SEMO for the second-straight event Sunday. Freshmen
Anna Speller and
Lydia Test hit consecutive career-best 9.800s in the second and third Redhawk lineup spots.
Alana Fischer chipped in a 9.675 and
Jolie Miller finished with a score of 9.575.
SEMO opened the dual meet with back-to-back scores of 48.450 on bars and vault.
Miller finished second overall at the dual with a 9.775 on bars in the first rotation.
Makenzie Marciniak notched a career-best 9.750 bars set to tie for third at the meet. The mark was Marciniak's first career score of 9.700 or higher as a Redhawk.
Solorzano-Caruso added a 9.725. Fischer and
Ashley Albrecht completed the SEMO scorers with 9.625 and 9.575, respectively.
On vault in the second rotation,
Michael Sanders paced the Redhawks with a 9.725.
Gabrielle Adams, Albrecht and Solorzano-Caruso all registered 9.700s for SEMO in the third, fourth and sixth lineup slots.
Test added a personal-best 9.625 in the leadoff position.
With the dual win Sunday, SEMO and Lindenwood are now knotted at 2-2 in the 2021 season series.
The Redhawks next return to Cape for a double-meet weekend on Feb. 26 and Feb. 28 at the Show Me Center. SEMO will host a tri meet against Illinois State and Centenary on Friday, Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. before concluding the weekend with a dual against Centenary on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m.
