Redhawks Conclude Road Stretch with Dual at Lindenwood Sunday
Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics concludes it three-competition road swing Sunday with a dual against Lindenwood. First rotation is scheduled for 1 p.m., CT at the Robert F. Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Missouri.

Sunday marks the second-straight meet in St. Charles, Missouri, and the second-straight against Lindenwood for the Redhawks who competed at the GymQuarters Invitational on Feb. 12 at The Family Arena. SEMO opened its road stretch against Illinois State on Feb. 6 in Normal, Illinois.Â

Scouting the Lions
Lindenwood compiled a team score of 192.725, good for third at the GymQuarters Invitational on Feb. 12 at The Family Arena. Courtney Mitchell and Kyndall Baze tied for second on vault with 9.825 as the Lions scored a 49.000 on the event as a team. Savannah Newsome won the bars title with a score of 9.875.

Lindenwood closed the weekend with a 195.000 in a dual with Illinois State on Feb. 14. Baze won vault with a 9.850 and Newsome captured the bars title for the second-straight meet with a 9.825.

The Lions vault lineup earned MIC Performance of the Week for their pair of 49.000s on the event at the GymQuarters Invitational and their dual with ISU. Savannah Newsome was recognized as the MIC Newcomer of the Week for her bars sets.

Redhawks at GQ Invitational Recap
SEMO totaled 191.725 for fourth out of six teams at the GymQuarters Invitational Feb. 12 at The Family Arena.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso took second overall in the all-around with a total score of 38.775. SEMO opened the meet with a 48.375 on beam. After their first bye, SEMO posted a 47.525 on floor. In their third event of the night, the Redhawks recorded a 47.325 on vault. SEMO concluded the evening with a 48.500 on bars in the final rotation after the team's second bye.

Anna Being Anna
Anna Kaziska led the Redhawks on beam and floor at the GymQuarters Invitational on Feb. 12. Kaziska paced the Redhawks with a 9.750 on beam in the opening rotation for seventh at the meet. She then added her second 9.800 floor score in 2021 in the third rotation. The mark tied for second overall at the six-team meet and was Kaziska's first floor routine since Jan. 16 at Texas Woman's.

Bates Dropping Bars
Lindsey Bates has registered a 9.700 or higher on bars in each of the past four competitions. She led the Redhawks with a career-best tying 9.825 at the GymQuarters Invitational on Feb. 12. Bates received a 9.750 from the first judge and a 9.900 from the second judge for fifth overall at the meet.

In 2021, Bates has also notched a 9.700 at Illinois State (2/6) and a pair of 9.750s against Texas Woman's (1/29) and at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic (1/22). She finished as the runner-up against Texas Woman's after totaling the mark. In her career, Bates has recorded 17 scores of 9.700 or higher.

Jolie, Jolie, Jolie, Jolie
Jolie Miller won the individual bars title with a season-high 9.825 at Illinois State on Feb. 6. Miller captured her second career event title with the mark, competing in the anchor position for the Redhawks. She then finished runner-up on beam with a career-best 9.750.

Miller has registered five scores of 9.700 or higher in 2021 and has nine in her career at SEMO. She was awarded MIC Performance of the Week on Feb. 10 for her bars title.

Miller most recently tallied a 9.775 on bars for second on the team at the GymQuarters Invitational on Feb. 12. She also added a 9.675 on beam at the six-team competition.

Our All-Arounder
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso represented the Redhawks in the all-around competition for the fifth time in 2021 and 16th time in her career at the GymQuarters Invitational on Feb. 12. She posted a 38.775 for second overall in the all-around. Solorzano-Caruso finished with a 9.700 on vault, a 9.750 on bars, a 9.600 and a 9.725 on floor.

The Courtice, Ontario, Canada native, leads SEMO in 2021 with 14 scores of 9.700 or higher (42 in her career). She has also won five individual event titles (29 in her career) this season and been recognized as MIC Gymnast of the Week twice in 2021.

Redhawks Lindenwood Connection
SEMO Head Coach
Ashley Lawson previously served as an assistant at Lindenwood in 2018 under head coach Jen Llewellyn. There, she was the balance beam coach, helping lead the Lions to their fourth-straight Midwest Independent Conference title. Lindenwood also finished second in the team finals of the 2018 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships.

Redhawks Assistant Coach
Andavea Alexander came to SEMO after a standout gymnastics career at Lindenwood. Alexander helped the Lions win their fifth consecutive MIC Championship and third USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship in the last five years in 2019. She also competed with Lindenwood, a Division II program, in the school's first ever NCAA Regional. Alexander graduated from Lindenwood with a B.S. in Athletic Training in 2019.

Scheduling Notes
SEMO will now host a double-meet weekend in Cape Girardeau on Friday, Feb. 26 and Sunday, Feb. 28 at the Show Me Center. The Redhawks will take on Illinois State and Centenary in a tri meet on Friday, Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. SEMO then will host Centenary in a dual that following Sunday (Feb. 28) at 1 p.m. Both meets will be held in the Show Me Center.

SEMO will head to Lindenwood for its dual meet on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m., CT. The meet was previously scheduled for Friday, Feb. 19.

The Redhawks home finale on Friday, March 12 will now be a tri meet with the addition of Illinois State. SEMO will compete against ISU and Lindenwood at Houck Field House on March 12 at 6:30 p.m., CT.

Looking Ahead
The Redhawks next return to Cape for a double-meet weekend on Feb. 26 and Feb. 28 at the Show Me Center. SEMO will host a tri meet against Illinois State and Centenary on Friday, Feb. 26 before concluding the weekend with a dual against Centenary on Sunday, Feb. 28.Â
