BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three Redhawks captured individual event titles as Southeast Missouri track & field continued its 2021 season Saturday at the Samford Invitational held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Nicole Humphreys won the weight throw while Donald Hatfield Jackson secured first in the high jump and
Jack Rinehart topped the leaderboard for pole vault.
Humphreys was first in the weight throw with a heave of 56-7.50 (17.26m).
Makenzie Williams chipped in a throw of 49-5.00 (15.06m) for sixth.
Hatfield Jackson won the high jump with a height of 2.10m.
Rinehart took first in the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 15-5 (4.70m).
Katie Schumer finished as the runner-up in pole vault with a personal-best height of 11-11.75 (3.65m).
Nicole Silverlake overcame 11-5.75 (3.50m) for third.
Brock Wood was clocked at 50.06 in the 400 meters for third overall.
Dillon Lay added a time of 52.86 (15th).
Lay then placed fifth in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the finish in 8.42. Wood (8.54) and
Shea DeGraaf (8.66) both represented SEMO in the preliminaries.
Humphreys posted a shot put distance of 41-9.25 (12.73m) in her third attempt for sixth overall at the meet.
Makenzie Williams was eighth with a personal-best mark of 38-11.50 (11.87m).
On the men's side,
Clay Alewelt tied for sixth with a personal-best feat of 46-4.25 (14.13m).
Dylan Clark added a throw of 45-8.50 (13.93m) for eighth.
Alewelt also notched a career-best weight throw distance of 48-10 (14.88m, seventh).
Hatfield Jackson posted a long jump of 23-5.50 (7.15m) for third at the Invitational.
Ellie Gamradt overcame a height of 5-1 (1.55m) for fifth in the high jump.
Serena Williams completed the 60 meters in 7.91. She posted a time of 26.73 in the 200 meters.
Williams also had a triple jump feat of 37-1.75 (11.32m) for sixth in the event.
SEMO next will return to Cape Girardeau to conclude their 2021 indoor season at the Redhawks Open on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the SEMO Rec Center. Field events will begin with the pole vault at 12:30 p.m. and running events will take place at 3:30 p.m. with the 55-meter hurdles.
