CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics, the 2021 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Champions, announced Wednesday its schedule for the 2022 season. The Redhawks will compete in 13 meets while hosting three home meets with fellow Midwest Independent Conference institutions Illinois State, Centenary and Lindenwood.
SEMO opens the 2022 campaign on Friday, Jan. 7 with a quad meet hosted by Missouri of the Southeastern Conference at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Missouri. The Redhawks will compete at the meet against Mizzou, Ball State and Illinois State.
After opening the season on the road, the Redhawks will be back in Cape Girardeau for week two of the season when they host Centenary at Houck Field House on Friday, Jan. 14.
SEMO will then head out on the road for the next three weeks from Jan. 21 through Feb. 4.
First up is the Tennessee Collegiate Classic in Lebanon, Tennessee. The Redhawks will compete in the third annual Tennessee Collegiate Classic against Northern Illinois in a dual at the Farm Bureau Exposition Center.
The following weekend (Jan. 29) the Redhawks will travel to Lindenwood.
The three-week road trip will end on Friday, February 4 with a quad meet in DeKalb, Illinois, against host Northern Illinois, Lindenwood and Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Following the three-week hiatus from Cape Girardeau, the Redhawks will return to the nest to take on Lindenwood Friday, Feb. 11 at Houck Field House.
The 2022 GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational will pit SEMO against Lindenwood and Illinois State in St. Charles, Missouri, Friday, Feb. 18 at the Family Arena.
SEMO will then host Illinois State at Houck Field House on Friday, February 25 for Senior Day 2022. It will be the third of four times the Redhawks will compete against the Redbirds during the regular season.
SEMO will go on the road for the final three regular-season meets.
The Redhawks head to Centenary in Shreveport, Louisiana, March 4 before a marquee quad meet against host, Texas Woman's, perennial powerhouse, Oklahoma, and Air Force, March 6 in Denton, Texas.
SEMO concludes the regular-season at Illinois State March 12 in Normal, Illinois.
The Redhawks will then travel back to Denton, Texas, for the 2022 MIC Championship, which will be contested on Friday, March 18 at Texas Women's University.
To wrap up the season, SEMO will travel to the Empire State to defend its 2021 crown at the 2022 USA Gymnastics National Championship April 7-10 in Ithaca, New York. The competition will be held on the campus of Cornell.
The three-day Championships will feature gymnasts from Division I, Division II and Division III colleges and universities and will determine the national team, all-around and individual event champions and medalists. The top five teams will qualify for the team championships.
SEMO will next host its annual Red & Black Intrasquad Friday, Dec. 10 at Houck Field House. The intrasquad commences at 6:30 p.m., CT and is open to the public.
