Redhawks Host Texas Woman's Friday in Home Opener at Houck Field House
Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics welcomes Texas Woman's to Houck Field House Friday for the Redhawks home opener. First rotation is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., CT for the dual meet.
DSC with the MIC Honor
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso was tabbed the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. Solorzano-Caruso captured the all-around crown at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic on Jan. 22 with a 39.050 and has won the A-A competition in both meets this season.
The Courtice, Ontario, Canada native, matched career-bests on vault (9.850, second) and floor (9.825, second) that she set at the 2020 installment of the Tennessee Collegiate Classic on Feb. 28, 2020. She also added a 9.625 on bars and a beam mark of 9.750.
The weekly honor marks the third for Solorzano-Caruso who was awarded MIC Newcomer of the Week twice in her freshman campaign in 2020.
Albrecht Earns MIC Newcomer of the Week
Ashley Albrecht was named the Midwest Independent Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. In her second career meet as a Redhawk, Albrecht registered her first three career scores of 9.700 or higher at SEMO at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic on Jan. 22. Albrecht, a redshirt-junior from Everett, Washington, notched a pair of 9.750s on bars (fourth) and floor (sixth) at the tri meet. She also added a 9.725 vault.
The weekly honor marks the fifth for Albrecht who earned MIC Newcomer of the Week (3) and MIC Performance of the Week (1) laurels while a member of Illinois-Chicago in 2018. She missed the entire 2020 season with an injury after helping the Flames capture the 2019 MIC Championship and finish as 2019 USA Gymnastics National Runners-up in UIC's last year as a program.
Tennessee Collegiate Classic Recap
SEMO finished first overall at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic tri meet on Jan. 22 at the Farm Bureau Exposition Center with a season-best 193.950. Lindenwood was second with 193.900 and Northern Illinois of the Mid-American Conference concluded the competition with 193.100.
Anna Kaziska won the individual beam title at her second-straight competition in 2021 with a 9.825.
The Redhawks opened the tri with a 48.650 on bars. In the second rotation, SEMO tallied a 48.150 on beam. On floor in the third rotation of the night, the Redhawks tallied a 48.500. The Redhawks concluded their evening with a 48.650 on vault.
Award Winning Speller
In her second career collegiate meet on Jan. 22 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic,
Anna Speller posted a 9.700 on beam for third on SEMO. Speller, a freshman from St. Louis, Missouri, registered a 9.475 on beam in her Redhawks debut at the season-opening Texas Woman's tri on Jan. 16.

Sophomore bars specialist
Jolie Miller hit her second consecutive 9.800 on the event Jan. 22 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic. She has paced the Redhawks with second place finishes on the event in both competitions this season. Miller has accumulated six career scores of 9.700 or higher on the event and three marks of 9.800 or higher.
Welcome Back to the Floor Lineup, Lindsay Bates!!
Lindsey Bates notched a 9.575 on floor on Jan. 22 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic. For Bates, the floor routine was her first in competition since her freshman season on Feb. 23, 2018 at Centenary. Bates also added a 9.750 on bars in the first Redhawks rotation at the tri meet in Tennessee.

Michael Sanders had an impressive meet on Jan. 22 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic. Sanders notched her first scores of 9.700 or higher in 2021 at the tri. She posted a 9.775 vault and a floor routine of 9.700.
Redhawks Debuts
Lydia Test became the third Redhawk in 2021 to make her SEMO debut this past week at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic on Jan. 22 . Test recorded an 8.975 on vault and a 9.150 on beam in her first career collegiate meet.
Redhawks Add Dual with Centenary on Feb. 28
SEMO will now host a double-meet weekend in Cape Girardeau on Friday, Feb. 26 and Sunday, Feb. 28 at the Show Me Center. The Redhawks will take on Illinois State and Centenary in a tri meet on Friday, Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. SEMO then will host Centenary in a dual that following Sunday (Feb. 28) at 1 p.m. Both meets will be held in the Show Me Center.

Season Opener Recap
SEMO finished third in its season-opening tri meet at Texas Woman's with Lindenwood on Jan. 16. The Redhawks totaled 190.700 at the meet to finish in third after TWU (192.725). SEMO opened the competition with a 47.975 on beam in the first rotation and added a 47.725 on vault, a floor score of 47.550 and a bars mark of 47.450.
Kaziska Named MIC Gymnast of the Week
Junior
Anna Kaziska was named the MIC Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 20. The honor marked Kaziska's first this season and 10th MIC Weekly honor in her career.
Kaziska, the 2020 MIC Gymnast of the Year, captured a pair of event titles in SEMO's season opener on Jan. 16. She registered a 9.850 on beam and a 9.800 on floor to earn the pair of titles in the first and second SEMO rotations. She also added a 9.600 on vault. In her career as a Redhawk, Kaziska has accumulated 62 scores of 9.700 or higher and captured 29 individual event titles.
Looking Ahead
After Friday's home opener, SEMO hits the road for three consecutive meets. The Redhawks face Illinois State on Saturday, Feb. 6 in Normal, Illinois, before competing in the six-team GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational on Feb. 12 at The Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. SEMO closes out the streak of away competitions with a dual against Lindenwood on Feb. 19.
