DENTON, Texas – Anna Kaziska and
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso combined to capture a trio of individual event titles as Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics totaled 190.700 in its season-opening tri meet at Texas Woman's with Lindenwood Saturday evening at the Kitty Magee Arena.
Kaziska, the 2020 Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Year, registered a 9.850 on beam and a 9.800 on floor to earn the pair of titles in the first and second rotations. Solorzano-Caruso secured the all-around crown with a mark of 38.825. She compiled a 9.775 on vault, a pair of 9.750s on bars and beam and a 9.550 floor score.
Lindenwood won the tri meet with a team score of 193.000 followed by competition host Texas Woman's (192.725).
SEMO opened the tri meet with a 47.975 on beam. The event score was the highest for the team out of the four events Saturday. Kaziska paced the Redhawks on the event with a top score of 9.850. Solorzano-Caruso notched a 9.750 for fourth overall at the tri.
Alana Fischer added a 9.575.
Anna Speller tallied a 9.475 in her Redhawks debut and
Jolie Miller rounded out the rotation with a 9.325.
In the second rotation, the Redhawks registered a 47.550 on the floor exercise. Kaziska danced her way to a meet-high 9.800 in the anchor position.
Ashley Albrecht, a redshirt junior transfer from Illinois-Chicago, was second on SEMO with a 9.600 in her first meet as a Redhawk. Solorzano-Caruso (9.550) and
Michael Sanders (9.200) completed the SEMO scorers on the event.
SEMO added a vault score of 47.725 in the third event of the night. Solorzano-Caruso finished second overall at the meet with a 9.775. Kaziska and
Gabrielle Adams each tallied 9.600s in the first and fifth lineup slots, respectively.
Makenzie Marciniak posted a 9.450 and Albrecht had a 9.300.
The Redhawks concluded their season opener with a 47.450 on bars.
Jolie Miller placed second overall at the meet with a 9.800 and Solorzano-Caruso took third with a 9.750. Fischer chipped in a 9.600, Albrecht had a 9.300 and
Lindsey Bates finished with 9.000.
SEMO next travels to Lebanon, Tennessee, to take on Northern Illinois of the Mid-American Conference, along with Lindenwood and Centenary at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic quad on Friday, Jan. 22.
The Redhawks then host Illinois State in their home opener on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. at Houck Field House.
