ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Anna Kaziska and
Lindsey Bates combined for three individual event titles as Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics took first at the GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational tri meet Friday afternoon at The Family Arena with a team score of 193.525. Seattle Pacific was second at the meet with 192.675 and Centenary was third (189.525).
With the victory, Southeast has now registered consecutive team scores of 193.000 or higher in their past two meets. The win also extends the SEMO win streak to three competitions (4-0) after back-to-back home Midwest Independent Conference dual wins.
Kaziska won the beam with her sixth career-best score of 9.875 (fourth in 2020). She also notched her third personal-high 9.900 (first in 2020) on floor for the title. Bates captured her first title of the season and sixth of her career with a 9.700 on bars in the opening rotation.
Southeast opened the Valentine's Day tri with a 47.975 on bars. Bates paced the Redhawks with a 9.700 for the title.
Alana Fischer and
Jordan Jones were second on the team with a pair of 9.600s achieved in the first and fourth lineup slots for fourth overall at the Invite.
Jolie Miller added a 9.550 and
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso had a 9.525.
In the second rotation, SEMO posted a 48.325 on beam. Kaziska had the top score of 9.875 to lead the way at the meet. Jones chipped in a 9.750.
Lindsey Moffitt notched a personal-best 9.650 and Solorzano-Caruso had a 9.600.
Molly Maxwell rounded out the Redhawk scorers with a 9.450.
The Redhawks registered a 48.900 on floor. Kaziska's 9.900 in the anchor position paced SEMO and was the top score at the meet.
Mackenzie Slee compiled a 9.775 while Moffitt and Maxwell hit consecutive 9.750s in the second and third lineup spots. For Maxwell, the score was her second career-best mark. Solorzano-Caruso added a 9.725 in the fifth position.
Southeast then concluded the tri with another 48.325, this time on vault. Slee finished second overall at the meet with a 9.725. The Redhawks also added four scores of 9.650 to their event total as
Gabrielle Adams, Maxwell, Kaziska and Solorzano-Caruso each achieved the mark.
Solorzano-Caruso was second overall in the all-around with a total of 38.500. Kaziska was fourth with a 37.675. Darian Burns of Seattle Pacific earned the crown with 38.875.
Southeast continues its road streak with its second consecutive meet hosted by a private gymnastics club (Meet Authority Productions and USAInvitationalGymnastics.com) on Friday, Feb. 28 when it faces Northern Illinois in the Tennessee Collegiate Classic held at the Wilson County Expo Center in Lebanon, Tennessee. The Redhawks then head to Shreveport, Louisiana, for a dual against Centenary on Sunday, March 1.
SEMO closes out its road swing with a return trip to St. Charles, Missouri, for a tri meet against Air Force and host Lindenwood on March 6.
