NORMAL, Ill. – Anna Kaziska won the beam and all-around titles Friday night as Southeast totaled a team score of 190.925 in its Midwest Independent Conference opener at Redbird Arena. Illinois State secured the dual with a 191.300.
Kaziska captured the beam title with a 9.825 in the final rotation to also claim the all-around crown with a 38.750. The Louisville, Kentucky native, now has amassed five titles in 2020 for 16 in her career.
Southeast started the dual meet with a 47.625 on bars.
Alana Fischer led the Redhawks in the first rotation with a season-best 9.600, good for fourth overall at the meet.
Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso was second on the team with a 9.575. Kaziska (9.550),
Jordan Jones (9.475) and
Lindsey Moffitt (9.425) rounded out the SEMO bars scorers.
Friday marked Moffitt's first bars routine as a Redhawk as she was inserted into the lineup as an all-arounder.
In the second rotation, the Redhawks notched a 47.475 on vault. Kaziska and Solorzano-Caruso paced Southeast with identical scores of 9.575 which tied for second overall at the dual.
Molly Maxwell chipped in a 9.500,
Makenzie Marciniak had a 9.425 and Fischer added a 9.400.
SEMO added a huge 48.250 on floor in the third rotation to take a slight edge in the dual, 143.350-142.825. Kaziska posted a 9.800 in the anchor position for runner-up on the event. Solorzano-Caruso continued her consistency on the floor exercise with her fourth consecutive career-best 9.725. Maxwell and
Mallory Desch both improved on their personal-bests on the event. Desch led off with a 9.450 and Maxwell had a 9.650 in the third lineup slot.
The Redhawks concluded the dual meet with a 47.575 on beam. Kaziska's meet-high 9.825 led the way for SEMO. Solorzano-Caruso compiled a 9.650 which finished third overall at the dual. Jones added a 9.450, Maxwell registered a 9.350 and Fischer had a 9.300.
Solorzano-Caruso totaled 38.525 for second in the all-around competition. In her first career collegiate meet as an all-arounder, Moffitt finished with a 37.250, for fourth.
Southeast concludes its season opening four-week road swing at Ball State's Quad Meet on Sunday, Jan. 26. SEMO will compete against Bowling Green, Wisconsin-La Crosse and host Ball State in the quad meet. The Redhawks then host consecutive home duals on Jan. 31 against Illinois State and Feb. 7 against Lindenwood.
