Series History
The Redhawks lead their all-time series against SIUE, 19-6. Southeast Missouri swept SIUE last season with scores of 11-6, 7-0, and 11-10, respectively. The Cougars have only one series win against the Redhawks. SIUE won the final two games of the 2017 series to get by the Redhawks that year. SEMO swept the Cougars in four of the last six years.

Walk This Way
Southeast Missouri walked 98 times this season, (5.7 per game), most in the Ohio Valley Conference. Connor Basler and Tyler Wilber lead the team with 16 and 15 walks, respectively. SEMO pitchers have allowed just 51 walks which stand as the fewest in the league. In their series against UT Martin, the Redhawks walked a total of 11 times. Prior to the start of conference play, SEMO drew 33 walks in its series against Purdue-Fort Wayne.
Hurts So Good
After leading the OVC in hit by pitch last season, SEMO is doing the same this year. Redhawk hitters have been plunked 23 times this season. Alex Nielsen leads the team after being hit five times, followed closely by Peyton Faulkner who has been hit on four occasions. In game two of their series against Western Illinois (Feb. 23), the Redhawks reached base five times by way of hit by pitch.
The 2019 Campaign
The Redhawks are scheduled to play a total of 32 games at Capaha Field this 2019 season. Southeast Missouri played 16 of its first 17 games in Cape Girardeau. This weekend marks only the second time SEMO plays on the road.
Leading the OVC (as of Mar. 14)
SEMO is leading the Ohio Valley Conference in various statistical categories through 17 games this season. SEMO is first in on base percentage (.415), walks (99), hit by pitch (23) and fewest walks allowed (51). Individually, Alex Nielsen leads the conference in sacrifice bunts (4), and freshman Noah Niznik leads the conference in ERA (0.78). Niznik is also tied for first in runs and earned runs allowed giving up just two in each of those areas.
