Southeast Hosts Bradley and Louisiana Tech Saturday and Monday in Paducah, Kentucky

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (3-4) hosts a pair of dual meets with Bradley and Louisiana Tech Saturday and Monday at the McCracken County High School Tennis Indoor Facility in Paducah, Kentucky. Southeast faces Bradley Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and then takes on Louisiana Tech Monday at 11 a.m.
 
Both meets were moved from the Redhawks Tennis Complex to the McCracken County High School Tennis Indoor Facility due to inclement weather on Saturday and Monday. 
 
Southeast heads into the two duals after splitting its pair of tilts at Illinois State's Redbird Invitational in Normal, Illinois, this past weekend to earn third place at the tournament.
 
The Redhawks were edged by Toledo, 4-3, last Saturday before sweeping Creighton, 4-0, last Sunday.
 
Romana Tarajova garnered Ohio Valley Conference Female Athlete of the Week honors after she posted a perfect 4-0 record in singles and doubles.
 
Tarajova extended her singles win streak to four with two victories at the top position. Tarajova overcame Deedee Leenabanchong of Toledo, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, on Saturday and then beat Creighton's Ashley Ishimura, 6-3, 6-2, Sunday. Tarajova leads the Redhawks in 2019 with a 5-1 singles record.
 
On the doubles side, she teamed up with Manuela Barriga for two wins at the third slot to improve their overall record to 4-2 this season. The pair defeated Christina Fuller and Claire Aleck of Toledo on Saturday, 6-2, and then earned a 6-1 decision on Creighton's Claire Embree and Erin Epperson Sunday.
 
Isabella Krupa and Teona Velkoska picked up their third and fourth straight doubles wins this past weekend at the no. 2 slot for their team best sixth dual victory in 2019. 
 
Southeast has captured the doubles point in each of the past five dual meets.
 
Anais Emelie also registered her first two singles dual wins of the campaign this past weekend over Toledo and Creighton. Emelie cruised by Claire Aleck of Toledo, 6-0, 6-3, and then fought past Creighton's Claire Embree with a first set tiebreak, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. 
 
Bradley competes at Murray State Friday ahead of Saturday's dual with Southeast. The Braves swept its weekend matches versus Western Illinois and Chicago State to improve to 8-2 in 2019. Sandra Maletin was named Missouri Valley Singles Player-Of-The-Week and is 8-1 this season at the top position. 
 
Louisiana Tech has compiled a 3-6 overall record in 2019 after splitting decisions at Nicholls State (4-0 win) and against Sam Houston State (1-4 loss).
 
Southeast next travels to Jackson, Mississippi, to face Louisiana-Monroe and Jackson State March 9 and March 10. The Redhawks take on ULM Saturday, March 9 at 3 p.m. then face Jackson State Sunday, March 10 at 11 a.m.
