Series History
The series is tied 1-1 between the Commodores and the Redhawks. In the last meeting, Southeast fell, 10-4, to Vanderbilt at Hawkins Field. VU would go on to win the national championship that season, the last national title for Commodore baseball. On April 1, 2008, Southeast defeated Vanderbilt, 12-8, in Nashville, Tennessee. The Commodores were ranked ninth at that time.

Walk This Way
Southeast Missouri walked 42 times this season, averaging per six per game. Tyler Wilber leads the team with seven. SEMO pitchers have allowed just 19 walks, the fewest in the Ohio Valley Conference. This past weekend, the Redhawks walked 18 times and six of those baserunners scored.
Hurts So Good
After leading the OVC in hit by pitch last season, SEMO is doing the same this year. Redhawk hitters have been plunked 18 times this season. Peyton Faulkner leads the team after being hit four times. Hunter Southerland and Alex Nielsen are close behind with three. In game two of their series against Western Illinois (Feb. 23), the Redhawks reached base five times by way of a hit by pitch.
The 2019 Campaign
The Redhawks are scheduled to play a total of 32 games at Capaha Field this 2019 season. Sixteen of Southeast Missouri's first 17 games, including the first seven of the season will be played in Cape Girardeau. The Redhawks face two Southeastern Conference foes in Vanderbilt and Missouri and one Big Ten opponent in Purdue. Southeast will face rivals Southern Illinois and Saint Louis twice this season. While Capaha Field is undergoing renovations, game times could be adjusted.

Southeast is leading the Ohio Valley Conference in various statistics early on. SEMO is first in hit by pitch (18) and sacrifice bunts (6). In pitching, SEMO leads the league in fewest walks allowed (19). Defensively, the Redhawks lead the conference in fielding percentage (.975) and in fielding double plays (7).
