Series History
UT Martin leads the all-time series against Southeast Missouri, 37-28. The last time these two teams met was at the Show Me Center on Jan. 5. The Skyhawks won that game by a score of 80-73. Carrie Shephard dropped seven three-pointers and finished with a career-high 25 points against UTM earlier this year. SEMO is 1-7 all-time against the Skyhawks under head coach Rekha Patterson.
How We Got Here
The Redhawks are currently 11-12 and 6-6 in Ohio Valley Conference play this season. Southeast Missouri had a three-game winning streak come to an end with a 91-57 setback at Belmont. SEMO swept SIUE with a 65-62 win in Edwardsville (Jan. 3) and 63-58 victory in Cape Girardeau (Jan. 24). It was the fifth OVC sweep under head coach Rekha Patterson and first against SIUE since 2013-14. Tesia Thompson leads the team with 17 points and seven rebounds per game. Carrie Shephard has 57 three-pointers this season and stands tied with Ashton Luttrell for seventh in single-season 3-pointers made at SEMO. The Redhawks forced 15-plus turnovers in 19 contests during the 2018-19 season, totaling 433 forced turnovers for the year. In OVC play, SEMO has forced 195 total turnovers as opponents are committing 16.3 per contest against the Redhawks.
Scouting the Skyhawks
The Skyhawks are 16-7 overall and 8-4 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play. UTM is 11-1 at home this season with its lone loss coming against Tennessee Tech (80-76, Feb. 9). The Skyhawks average 81.4 points, 37.6 rebounds and 15.5 turnovers per contest. Maddie Waldrop averages 8.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Waldrop scored 20 points and grabbed rebounds against the Redhawks earlier this season. Forward Chelsey Perry is the leading scorer for the Skyhawks with 12.3 points a game. Perry also has 49 blocks this season.
